pass the high school on your left. pass the right turn that would take you over the canal. right before you get to the raised bridge, pull over to the left. this area has a bar, boat ramp and dock. i think it is $6 or $8 to launch a trailered boat from there but should be free for kayaks? "The Pen" is the area behind that bar and it is good for reds. Good luck!

I fished Lafitte a bunch last year but I was mothershipping. I am guessing an option would be to put in at Seaway Marina and paddle down to the southern entrance to The Pen. If you launched at the marina at the north entrance (not sure of the name) you could fish around the old boat slips. I fished mainly on the eastern side of the pen but that would be a pretty good paddle across some open water. Best of luck..........

I think it's $5 for yaks at "Da Pen"
Oh and 95% of the fish I caught were on 1/4 oz Johnson gold spoons although I am sure shrimp under a cork would have the same effect.
Quas, "Da Pen" that you refer to is in St. Bernard. I think this is a different "Pen" in Lafitte.

Fishing report in today's paper says bass fishing is good in the Pen at lafitte. Probably due to fresh water diversion. Call joes landing and check before looking for reds or trout there.
