    Checked the price of copper lately? Ground rods are copper clad. There is a very thin coating of copper over a steel rod. I like the weight of them for stabbing into the bottom.

    $10 stake out pole

    My PVC stake out pole was shot. I went to Home Depot and got a 1/2" x 8' ground rod from the electrical section. I cut off 2 feet and then drilled a hole near the cut end for a 1/4" line.
