Friday 3/19 - Madisonville rice canal

A buddy and I are going to give this spot a try. We want to pick up some shiners at the gas station/bait store across the street from Badeaux and launch across from T-Rivers. We should be off the water before noon, so I hope to avoid any problems with the owner of the bar.

We're vaguely targetting sac-au-lait, but I have no clue if there are any around there. If not we'll try for bass, bream, catfish or whatever. Maybe even a wayward red?

Anyone want to join us? Anyone fish there before?

Small 1/16 oz jighead with a small gold spinner. Best color plastics are small green/black, blue/black, and white/blue...

Fish weed lines (might be a little early for weed/grass) so fish close to the bank and work outward. Sometimes the sac a lait are a little deeper if the sun is out bright...

Thanks SM. Do you prefer that jig/spinner combo over minnows?

Fished yesterday evening and the two fellows on the bank with shiners where knockin em dead late in the evening. I gave the one I caught on jigs to them. Wasn't the rice field canals, but the seems the cool weather with the cool rain may have pushed em off the beds. I couldn't find em deep or on brush piles either though.
