Redfish Rally

Jon (topdogeye) and myself decided to put together a tournament targeting Redfish. It also serves to as a way to meet some of the people from the board and put faces with some of the names.

May 3rd 2008

$10 entry fee: All entry fees go to 1st place, except the lowest weight stringer wins their entry fee back.
In the event of a tie the purse will be split 50/50.

A two person team format will be used, team partners will be chosen by blind draw.

The team will combine their stringers for the best possible five fish weight.

Louisiana law applies to your stringer four 16"-27" redfish and 1 redfish over 27"
For this contest the fish over 27" cannot be over 30"

You must use a least one fish from your teammate.

Boundaries are anywhere along Hwy 23 from Myrtle Grove south

Tournament hours are from one hour before sunrise until 2:30 P.M.

Weigh-in begins at 2:30 and ends at 3:30 at the giant American flag. The flag is between the bridge and tunnel at the entrance to Belle Chasse.

Team with most spots will win a secret price

Artificial bait only

Paddle craft only

in the event that we get an odd number of entries we'll switch to single angler format or beg for one more person to enter.

this is a non BCKFC event...this is just Jon and Bernie trying to put together a little event for some club camaraderie between the big club sponsored tournaments.

If you're interested or have any questions please post, and Jon or I will get back with you asap.

you can send payments via paypal: redfishrally@yahoo.com

thanks,
Bernie

I'm in! :buttrock:

One question though. If the teams are going to be selected via blind draw and there isn't going to be a common launch area. How are the teams going to be selected before the tournament?

If your fishing solo/one man team, I assume you have to pay double the entry fee?

Sometime before(about a week I think) the tournament me, Jon, and anyone who cares to witness will put the names in a hat and teams will be chosen that way. After teams are chosen we'll post them here and you and your team mate can u2u and exchange cell numbers and talk strategy.

If we get an odd number of entries we'll switch to the single man format, but the entry fee will still be $10, but the winner's take will obviously large being that he doesn't have to split it with a partner.

every body knows the format now we want teams to be the way so we will post the entrants and towards the date of the tourney we will push to make it even it shouldn't be a problem.

I'd like to, but that's the weekend before exams. I'll post again closer to the 3rd when I might know a little better about my circumstances.

want to drag something like this along more power to ya!

Just kidding.

as long as it doesn't have a motor, kayak, canoes and pirogues. we didn't mean to imply that Hobies would be excluded.

You have to weigh a fish to get your $$ back correct? Otherwise if there is several people with no fish then there would be a problem.

Is it open to non-members?

No, we're not going to have a cut-off date. we want 30 people. If there is more interest we'll go with more teams.

correct, the lowest weight stringer wins their entry fee back. skunked doesn't count.

also this tournament is open to anyone.

that's a jazzfest weekend, and we typically decide which days we're going a couple of days before.

I am certainly interested! In the interest of disclosure, I must admit I am not familiar with the area and not a very good fisherman, so I apologize to my teammate in advance!
