Finally finished my trolling motor conversion and works great....

1191

Traveling Stowed Position

1190

Deployed Ready to Run

Have the battery stowed in the PBG front hatch and the run / speed switch mounted in front of my cup holder. Just need to finish painting my electric head on the shaft black and ready to go.

Outcast tourney here I come!

BTW, motor comes off with 6 screws and to remount the rudder same holes - complete transfer from one to the other takes about 5 - 10 minutes with a screwdriver and wrench. Trolling motor comes off for storage with removable pin in about 10 seconds for overnight stays.

Nicely done. I am seriously considering making a similar set up for the PA. I will want to see/touch/feel what you did so I get some ideas.

Not a problem... I have some pics taken at various stages and would love to help you make the conversion. I just finished helping ReelRebel do his yak. We used the Minn Kota Endura 30lb from Academy but for the Pro Angler I would use a larger thrust motor due to the size / weight but still very affordable. Since I am saving for a Pro Angler as well, I would love to help you if you decide to go that route. Just let me know.

Looks good to me, Steve. Is the white nipple on the shaft to set the motor depth? Looks like you may want to do something to protect the handle strap from the edge of your mount. I like the bungee to hold the motor during transport.

Looks good Steve. What battery are you using?

I have a 40 lbs. motor and a Cobra Fish N Dive to play around with next. Mounting the motor to the FND won't be too tough, but the kayak lacks rudder controls. Standard foot controls using sliding tracks won't work due to molded in foot rest.

I went with the $59 battery from Academy. I tried the $79 battery first and it did fine but the other was a little bit lighter so I am going to try it for a while. Only made one trip so far but did not have nay problems with run time.

Your bracket helped to make a good clean install and still love it! Thanks again Kurt.
