I know someone brought this up before, but I can't find the discussion so has anyone tried Native's new Versa Board. If so, thoughts?
Seems like this "boat" may be the perfect solution for my shallow water troubles....until hobie comes out with tank tracks for its yaks.

What advantages are you seeing in this? Seems it may be fun for stand up paddle boarding but then what?

Has a flip/swivel seat accessory that you can use to sit on and paddle like a yak and is fully scuppered with a large bow for riding over waves...a hybrid between a yak and paddle board really...but yeah, standing up all day would suck....

Have you seen the Flatstalker? Buddy of mine has one and you could demo if you wanted...he is in Slidell right at Hwy 11 bridge / train trestles.

The versa looks like it would be easier to paddle and take in the surf if so inclined to....not sure the flatstalker would do that.....the revo has its uses and I love it on those long "peddle" days, but fishing mag in the winter or for an easy surf trip (not sure when we'll have one of those again)....this thing looks pretty cool.

You think it would be stable enough in rough water? I do like the swivel seat and stand up paddleing. Not sure how dry you would stay.

Oh you would get soaking wet, but in the summer, may be kinda of fun....re stability the boat is 33 inches wide and the video I watched the guy was dancing all around the thing so it sure looks stable....would really like to try one out.
Check out the native owners forum they have a section about the versa board. www.lwnog.com/forum

Well, just for a good laugh and to tell on myself, I did a demo with the Flatstalker at the Bridgeside Marina and fell off in the water in December...pretty cold. I did not buy me one but it did give some people watching a good laugh! Don't know about the dancing thing but not as stable as they said.

Well you said you fell off. If you had been dancing in one spot then you wouldn't have gotten wet! I know those Flatstalkers are hard to flip. But then again I had never seen anyone flip a Magic 14.5 before until, I let "Greenwave" try out the one I had.

It was more like I fell off the seat and your right...maybe I should have been dancing. I know I danced a little when I hit the cold water.

That seat is the size of a 48qt cooler. How did you manage to fall off?

Fit the rear end no problem but the center of gravity was way off being so high up. Was paddling in a turn and I guess over compensated. Not a pretty sight but funny! My buddy got a real laugh out of it!
