trolley gives You ability to anchor from rear or front with ease also can be used for marsh stakes they are really easy to install I am in Rosedale (close to Baton Rouge) if need a hand might could help also I reccommend if near a West Marine get a small cam cleat for the ropes these are the best I have found very efficient when anchoring or release is needed in a hurry such as a big red giving Ya a sleigh ride

My quick answer would be tidal movement and wind. Wether or not you want to be casting into the current.

I see the advantage to having/using an anchor trolley. It makes you more versatile when you stake out as it pertains to which direction you want to face and cast. I personally have not installed one on any of my yaks as I am more prone to drift and or stand up. Which negates the need for one to me. I do stake out but have fixed points on both sides that I use which is easily switched via a carribeaner. Both of the points on my kayaks I use to attach my stake out pole to are aft of my seat. It depends on your habits I guess you could say.

so the trolley just makes how you position yourself easier? I am not sure if running all that line and such is worth it.....I guess I have just not had to work with current yet.

Yes, it is worth it. You can change you vantage point simply by pulling your rope on the trolley and change the boat direction (depending on wind and current) to better position yourself and cast. Some people use only one trolley, some use one on each side and some have a different trolley for the front section and the another for the back. I use one and it like it alot...would not have a yak without one. Just my 3 cents.

Imagine this. You see a Red tailing. The wind is blowing as it has in the last 4 tournaments I've fished in. You paddle to within casting range. You have one cast to get it right because you can't stick a marsh pole down or if you do, the wind blows your front around and now you're trying to cast to it while it's behind you. An anchor trolley is worth every penny spent on it. You don't have to drill and get fancy. Use 2 caribinears. Attach to your front and back handles. Attach a line from front to back and put a clip or ring on the line. Simple and cheap.

It's worth it! the pulleys make it super easy to adjust your anchor.

thanks for the input guys.....I am all new to this, so to have some anecdotal evidence makes the time and money spent rigging worth while.
