How about some thoughts on a screw-up that does not concern oil?
In case you missed it, last night a MLB pitcher had retired 26 batters and had one to go for his perfect game. The batter hits the pitch to the right side, the first baseman feilds the ball, and tosses over to the pitcher covering first base. The ump calls the runner safe. Replays show that the runner was clearly out.
The ump watches the replays after the game and sees that he blew it. He finds the pitcher in the locker room and apologies. He owns up to his mistake.------As a result he has received many accolades today for his honesty and admission of the mistake.
Since this would have been the last out of the game and would not have impacted the game other than ending it I was really hoping the commissioner would reverse the call and give the kid his perfect game. (I have to admit I might feel differently had this been on the first out of the inning since it would have impacted the game) The commissioner has stated that he is not going to change the call.
We need many more folks like the ump. We also need more like the pitcher. His reaction after the call was very professional.
Any thoughts?
