New member here. I am currently saving my pennies to buy a used fishing yak. I love to fish, but don't have the time, income, parking space, patience, or will to maintain a battle with a power boat, so a yak seems perfect for me.
Right now I am just saving up and doing research. I plan on biding my time and saving until I can find a used Malibu or Hobie. Of course I will probably be able to afford the Malibu first. Then I will probably play around close to launches while I continue to rig the yak out as I go along. Maybe in a few years I will have one decked out.
Looks like I just missed some demo days. Any more upcoming?

That is what i thougt. Then 2 months after I bought my Yak I was building a bait / live well out of a pet food container from plans I fount on this site.
Be careful, this stuff is addicting.
And Welcome!

:welcome: and be careful of papawd. He'll talk you into letting him drill holes in your yak for you. It's like Drills Gone Wild with papawd.

Welcome to the addiction. I think one of the more difficult things is the desire to get everything at once. It may be more difficult to stick to your plan than you think. Take you time to learn what you want and where you may want it. This was great advice that I got from pawpawd when I first started.
Feel free to ask any questions you can think of. We have bunches of folks on here that love to help.

If I had the funds I would not be able to wait. Since I cut up all of my credit cards and only buy what I can pay cash for, it will keep me from going overboard (figuratively) too soon (fortunately or unfortunately). But I look on the bright side - I can slowly add gear as my skill level increases. I probably shouldn't be out so far that I would really need a GPS to find my way back. So I'll stick to short trips and by the time I can afford that GPS then I might actually need it. Same goes for live bait well, etc. I can take my time and find things used or on sale.
Thanks for the welcome. This isn't just a passing fancy. I've been "sleeping on it" for about a year now so I really am committed.
