I was wondering if anyone had information on Demoing kayaks around New Orleans.
Is something that is call and put down a deposit or is it something that commercial stores do on occasion to encourage sales?
If it is something that is done at random does anyone know when the next time will be?
Thanks

Call Massey's in New Orleans. Their public demos are finished, but I believe the will do personal demos upon request. They are very helpful.

Start with Masseys, we have a list somewhere on here of demo days in Lafayette, and Baton Rouge then - You can also rent yaks from Bobby Lynn's and Calmwater Charters.

Well I have been doing a lot of reading and I keep coming back to the Mirage Drive System being extremely well reviewed. I am a picky guy when it comes to purchasing. I would like to only make one purchase that will keep me happy for a long time. So I don't mind waiting and spending a little bit more money. I reside in NOLA. I am not sure what I need to do to access my Profile but it won't allow me to update my location so I am assuming it open up after I make more posts.
I will call Masseys on tomorrow or on Tuesday to see about demoing a kayak and what is involved. I am thinking about doing a guided tour as well with my father in the next couple of weeks. I was hoping I could check out a guided tour in which they use the hobie kayaks with the mirage drive system so I could get a feel for it and see if a like it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

In regards to accessing your profile, have you paid membership or what is your status? If you have paid and can not access profile then either let me know or send Quas a PM to fix for you. If you have not, that might be the problem. Just guessing as under your name is shows Junior Member instead of BCKFC member.

I did a lot of reading when I was in the market. A lot of reading. My first kayak was an outback. I have not looked back. I recently got myself a Pro Angler although my outback is just over a year old (found a good deal). I swear by the mirage drive. In terms of propulsion it's the way to go. It helps me when I am fishing, because instead of switching back and forth between paddling and casting, I peddle and only miss a sight cast because I'm terrible at fishing. My advice, try to find a used outback and put the turbo fins on it. If you are patient I would be glad to take you out before you buy. I should get back home on the 30th of June.

Will take awhile to find a used outback. Seems once you get one you hang on to them. Try John (Williams) at Pac & Paddle and tell him you are amember here and see what kind of deal he will make you. Love my outback and John made it worth the trip to Lafayette.-
