I know that this thread should be started on Veteran's Day instead of now but here goes.
I would like to see a running list. Follow my lead!
How many club members are veterans?

Not a vet but I am very thankful for all you guys have done for our country. My son is set to enter the Army reserve July 12. He is excited and i am very proud that he has made that choice. Thanks again for all you do. We have never done enough for our vets in my eyes... Thanks again. See my separate post about a tournament idea.

Not a vet myself, but I have military folks in my family. Thanks to all the vets and their unselfish service and sacrifice. You are the pride of our nation.
A couple of the other guys beat me to it by stating that although I have not served in the military I applaud and appreciate those that have and are. May we as a nation never forget that Memorial Day is not about hot dogs and hamburgers, but honoring those that have paid the highest price. May we also remember those that suffered injuries as a result of their service. Too often they become the forgotten.
A big thank you to those that served and may still be serving.

Air Force 87-95. Soesterberg AB The Netherlands, and Fairbanks Alaksa. Many deployments to various locations. "First to go last to know." LA. Army Guard. Flight medic out of 812th AA. 99-2003. Miss that the most, but with kids, deployments were harder. Thanks to all those that are currently and have served.

I shake hands with most soldiers I meet followed by a sincere "thank you for your service, for your sacrifice and your family's sacrifice for our country."
There is much respect in my house for all of BCKFC's veterans and all veterans and currently active military troops.
Dad was a Coastie. Most of my uncles were in the Navy. Couple of cousins in the National Guard.
God bless y'all!!

The kudos are nice but I got to thinking earlier today...
Today is not Veteran's Day. It's Memorial Day. On Memorial Day the honors go to those who gave their lives in the service of their country. I wouldn't want to take anything away from them.

Yes, you are correct Yak. But remember Joe prefaced the post by saying that although it is Memorial Day and not Vets Day..... and then asked who in the BCKFC was a vet? Glad we have lots of LIVING members that have served our country so well. I'll celebrate them twice each year.

True enough. Guess I should have read the original post better. No harm. No foul.
Just wanted to make sure the salutes went to the right folks on their day.

I know this is after the fact, but my wife and I watched a great movie on Memorial Day. The title is "Taking Chance" and stars Kevin Bacon. The movie follows the return home of a Marine KIA in Iraq. It's actually based on true events. It is very moving and brought special meaning to the day for both of us. If you have COX, click On Demand, go to HBO, All Movies, and it's no charge. Either that or rent it some place, I think you'll find it's worth the effort. If you decide to watch, post up here and let me know what you think, and thanks to all of you who have served, your sacrifices do not go unnoticed.

6 years Army National Guard 1088th Engineering Battalion 256th Brigade (1995 - 2001) - just an old grease monkey heavy wheel diesel mechanic with recovery certification (63-S H8). I liked the regular Army training but didn't care for the guard unit. One of them square pegs in a round hole situations I guess.
