Thinking about skipping out on work and fishing Hopedale on Fri. Never fished this area before. Would be nice to have some one that knows the area to tag along with. Any body interested?

Might be interested derrel, i have a free schedule this week and want to try and fish Hopedale as much as possible before the oil comes. I fished there today and will post a report in a bit.

Might make it out there early on Friday before it gets too hot and stormy (and oily?).

With the full moon thursday night the fish will be feeding all night. I am thinking of pulling another all nighter at the dam.

I can't do a all nighter but I can be there early. I'll have room for another yak on my trailer if any one is interested. Walleye (reg fishing partner and neighbor) is going to be out of town. Is there anything special I need - anchor or tackle? Where do you get live bait?

Derrelt - I tried to respond to your PM. Computer for some reason won't let me open PMs. I was able to read you post on my smart phone and tried to respond; don't know if it worked. ReelThrill is the expert for Hopedale. I followed his lead and it looking at this post, you've got his attention. Good luck and I hope the Hopedale bite continues! It was good to see you at the Mag this past Sunday!

Derrelt, Breton Sound Marina is right there and has live bait, unless something has changed. Really good article last year that I read about fishing the dam suggested using a cinder block or something similar as an anchor due to all the rocks. I use a piece of concrete edging I got at Home Depot for about a buck. If you fish along the dam, particularly along the bottom, be prepared to get snagged a bunch.
I was thinking about going tomorrow, but may have to re-think that into a night trip.

Derrel like MDR said, you definitely want some kind of anchor or block that won't get caught up. I use a mushroom anchor and have never had a problem with it there. A prong anchor will definitely get hooded though. Brenton Sound Marina has lots of live bait but it is expensive. .30 a Shrimp. I am not sure what time they close but I know they open at 5 in the morning. I as still trying to decide on what I'm gonna do but more than likely if I fish, it will be with the full moon. Will check weather today and let you know what I decide.

Looks like Raywolf and I are headed down there Thurs afternoon. Trying to decide whether to leave early enough to pick up some shrimps. I figure we will fish well into the night. Looks like it will be good weather (of course the afternoon thunderstorm is a possibility, but I can hide under Raymond since he is taller and, um...more round), and the tide will be falling thru the afternoon. I had better luck last year on the south side of the dam with a falling tide. Moonrise is also at dark o'clock so the stars are in alignment. I hope the fish know this, lol.

RR I am assuming that is the side you caught your specks and sheephead.

Derrelt I use a regular ole house brick,if it gets hung up cut the rope, those rocks will catch a regular anchor.

Tech, I think we will get down there around 430 or so and probably fish until midnightish. With the moon coming up pretty much at dark I think we can make it an earlier night trip than some nights.
