FYI, LADWF has again closed down fishing off of Grand Isle and Fourchon beach. It appears that the marsh is still a go.
Press release May 20, 2010.

Just paddle over the Grand Terre and you can fish the beach.
This is going to get much worse. The pressure on Calcasieu Lake is going to be unbearable.

Hard to say, the new map doesn't have the same grid on it as before. It is close though.

I think it is getting real close to Magnolia. Is there any way one of our computer junkies could overlay the LWF map on Goggle earth to help dumb ones out (like me).

Not just you .. I have really had a hard time trying to figure this out. Then the newest map doesn't have the same grid lines as the ones before.
It would appear to me that the areabetween grand bayou and the launch is still open. Does anyone else get that from looking at the new map?

This is what I have come up with using all the waypoints given as far as closures.

Magnolia is open and from looking at the map, it looks like Joshua is open as well. http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/pdfs/news/DETAIL-SHEET.jpg

Interesting change to the closed waters. They deepened the closure of the more open waters further north, and removed closures further south along the river. The new "openings" are good for kayak fishers since we only go out a few miles off either side of the river. On the other hand, more boaters will be working closer in the areas that we would be fishing.

Anyone fish the area down hwy 55, hwy 56 or down hwy 665? Looks like they would have road access to marsh areas and seems open at this point, west of Bayou Lafourche and above 29.20.00 Lat. But, I am having trouble reading the maps as well. Wish they would put city/town names along with bringing the grid back.

I used the details given and Google Earth to try to help.

In Terrebonne Parish, west of Bayou Grand Caillou is open to the Gulf. That means DuLarge, Lake Mechant, Sister Lake, N-Star, Pickets and Mardi Gras. North Lake Boudreaux, north Madison Bay, and PAC open.
Oh man... I just read the lastest closure - Bayou Terrebonne east up to 29 30 ... That's almost up to the Bourg LaRose Hwy. I don't believe it!!! I'm sick ... that means no Madison Bay or PAC.

Most of those are way to far to paddle for me! Heck a little run even in a stinkpot.

29 30 has officially shut me down west of Bayou Lafourche. It was just starting to get REAL good.

Yeah and considering there isn't a good launch in the north of Lake Bourdreaux you may as well count it gone too.

I feel for you guys. Not much is left and when one of our personal fishing grounds is closed, it's like a kick in the nads. All I have the energy to do today is pray that somehow the oil stops flowing into our waters ( I don't care how or who does this.) and that our coastal marsh will prove us wrong and miraculously recover better than we anticipate.
God help us all.

As of right now Magnolia is open. I would make sure to check the closures before you leave home to double check. We don't want anyone fishing closed waters.
