Any Houma Kayakers?

Well hello all!
My name's Dustin, age 20, and I've been thinking of getting into kayak fishing for a while. I have an aluminum hull boat, but, the engine requires a good bit of work, and I'd rather try a form of fishing that is a bit different. And this seems right up my alley.

I was wondering if there were any fisherman who lived or fished around Houma/Pointe Aux Chienes/Dulac area. I have been fishing PAC my whole life, and I was wondering if I could maybe meet some local kayakers to see how they do it and maybe learn what all I need to get started.

A little about me, I have been using spinning reels and live bait since I can remember, and I just recently picked up a fly rod and want to learn to use it. My main goals are to catch speckled trout, redfish, lady fish, drum, and gaftop catfish. I usually always have a camera with me, and I love video editing. In fact, my goal is to do fishing videos based here in Terrebonne.

I am looking at buying aN Ascend A10 from Bass Pro, unless y'all have any more reccomendations.

Welcome Makinpewjr, I only know of 1 yaker from Houma and that is Budaman, But their are a good bit from Thibodaux and a few from Raceland. I do recomend u getting an Used better kayak than the bass pro one if u can find one for arround the same price as the bass pro on it would be much better. I am fairly new to the addition myself but live in thibodaux and if u have any qoestions I can help or point u in the right direction to help u.

Welcome Dustin. Yes I would buy a good used yak. But if you want to buy brand new and want to stay on the cheaper side of things I would pick up the perception sport pescador 12. That was my first yak and I loved it. You can get it at the academy for 500 bucks.

I'll see about getting a used kayak, unfortunately, I've another priority right now (a new truck) so the yak will have to wait till next month.

I work nights at Weaterford International so it might be hard for me to get to PAC, but I'll try. Would y'all mind if I just came, looked around, and maybe ask a few questions?

Here ya go. This is a much better kayak than the 10' sit in you wanted, plus its cheaper. You should call about it, may be able to get it for a little less.

Lol, I mostly want to catch one on a fly. I honestly just want to catch anything, matters not if it's an edible fish or not. I just like fishing. I like how they go aerial alot while on the line, and I think it would be fun to catch on a fly rod

I met a new Kayaker from houma That is in the Bayou Bike club Tuesday down in DU, We fish together for awhile and talked alittle. I told him about the club he said he will ck it out. Also I seen a Kayaker in Sheriver today, will try to find him again and find out who he is.
