Ok, I will be going on Tuesday morning.
If anyone wants to join me, I will be at the Rigolet's Marina at 5:30 am.
Depending on the winds, I will be fishing one of these two areas.

I'll be there. Let's hit it early, fill up the stringer, and stroke it back to the marina before that hot sun cooks us. Weather Underground says winds will be almost nil in the morning, so I will bring the long rod and try the shrimp fly.

PJ, any idea why that speck on the far left looks like that ie. kinda blotchy? I've had a couple look like that before, too. Just curious. Was this an "after I got home" photo like I usually post? Perhaps the ice does that to them. That would make sense.

The photo was taken at the dock before I headed home. I had them on a stringer and pulled them through A LOT OF GRASS!!! That one is just missing some scales. I am surprised they looked that good for their photo op.

thanks. I noticed that sometimes the big one's look "spotted" AND speckled, too. Even when you pull them out right out of the water.

Well, you beat the heck out of me today, Joe. All I got was the throwback trout on one of my first casts early this morning, and I dipped up a big blue crab that was swimming by, but let him go. Water looked good -- found lots of cuts with good water movement-- bait jumping everywhere -- maybe that was the problem. Fished the Redripper spoon, topwater pup, and gulp shrimp under a cork. Brought the flyrod, but never set it up -- too windy -- not terribly windy, just underestimated, as usual. I did lots of casting to the grass bank looking for reds. Did not see any tails, but did see some good wakes following the topwater bait and spoon. Turned on the fish finder over the deep hole and the canals and saw lots of "clouds" of minnows or shrimp, but no fish were after them. I think there were too many real snacks around for fish to be turned on by an artificial (I'll stick with that excuse). Looks like I should have shelled out a few bucks for the live shrimp at the marina. Enjoyed fishing with PJ and the "Stoneheart" family. I'll have to cook some pasta for dinner tonight. :frown:

Looks good Joe. Did you wind up fishing Geo canal? And what did they wish to eat this morning? I am surprised that you and the other guys did not pull some flounders out of there.
I am going to try to get down there this weekend.

I was using live shrimp. I pulled my first Red out of the little cut where I usually find Flounders. Then I went down the bayou toward Stump Lagoon. I pulled my second Red from one of the small cuts dumping water into the bayou. All of the trout were pulled from Stump Lagoon. The center of Stump Lagoon was full of small trout. I caught all of the keepers around the edges of the lagoon. I wanted to venture into a pond that I fish when I am in my stinkpot but the 2 gators in that pond were slightly larger than the 11.5 foot kayak I was in and I decided not to push my luck.
Thank you sir. Good to see Rigolets has live shrimp. The few that could be found in Leeville area over the weekend were really small. I decided to kill minnows intead.
