Has anyone ever installed these on a SOT kayak? If so, how does it work.

Trying to rig it to my Redfish 14 and I cant figure out how to attach the end closest to my seat because I cant access the inside of my yak there. Maybe if my arms where three feet longer!!

If someone knows how please post or even better if you can walk me through it on the phone tonght or tomorrow night please PM me and get my cell number.

thanks....

My old Prowler had a set that was custom made by KFS out of stainless steel. The ones in the ad should work the same (point your toe, turn the rudder) as the ones I had though.

It is the one feature I miss the most from my old kayak.

Yea they are pretty cool in concept. I get how they work, I just dont know how to install them. The mounting holes are incased in a housing so you cant tighten the fastening screws from the exposed side.

I actually bought a set of these braces http://www.duckworksbbs.com/hardware/canoe-kayak/rudder-fb/index.htm

They were easy to install on my 14 ft heritage redfish, the braces matched exactly to the existing holes for the stock foot braces.

the only other thing you had to do was run the wire through the kayak. that involved drilling a small entrance hole on each side near the seat and another two exit holes near the stern

The braces are extremely easy to use and I am very very pleased with them. I use mine to control my trolling motor for my kayak.

That is what I didnt want to hear. I was very close to buying those same ones, but I decided to get the fancy looking expensive ones that dont work for my boat. I guess i will try and return them and go with the Duckworks model if i can't find an installation solution.

Thanks for the input.
