I wanted to take my girlfriend to do some bank fishing on LA 1 in the morning. I'm not even sure if I can with the new closures. By the looks of it, I should be ok for now. Can anyone confirm this? If I am able to go, can someone give me some pointers on where to try? I have never really fished on side of the road down there. I only have one yak, so thats not an option. I'd appreciate any advice. I just want to try to catch something before they shut it down.

Should be ok to fish down there along the highway. I read as of this morning, you could actually fish the north shore of GI, but I imagine that's changed by now.

looks like you're good as long as you're on the east side of Bayou Lafourche

Thanks. Anybody know any spots closer to Leeville or Golden Meadow? I think I have read somewhere about fishing by the locks in Leeville. Or, just any other bank fishing spots in general that are still legal.

Wish I could help you. My first trip below Bason's was last weekend.
Well, other than a couple failed Fourchon surf fishing trips many years ago.

Anthonyl... Right as you cross over the levee / locks there is a culvert that runs under the road. I see people fishing there all the time. Which side depends on what the tide is doing. Also in Golden Meadow, you will see a ball park to your right as the speed limit changes. Turn by the ball park and go left to where all the trucks and trailer are parked. Cross over the levee and fish that pocket right where the big pipes come into the water. You can walk the bank on both sides and catch a few fish there. I do not think you will have any problems fishing just about anywhere along the side of the road that you want to. Also you might try right by the bridge going to Elmers Island (by the garbage dumpster up to the gate area on the right) have caught some fish there as well. Big speck caught there just a few weeks ago by the bridge.
Hope these help.
You should still be good to go with anything along LA 1. There are a few places in the Leeville area but none that I know of that are all that productive. The more productive spots are generally between Fourchon and GI.
Some folks have chimed in in the past about the public launch in GM, but I have not had any luck there in the couple of times I have tried it.

PAC WMA was pretty today. A little windy but just stay on the calm side. Didn't get out there until about 3:00 this afternoon but caught my first speck of the year and it was a keeper. A couple of puppy drum and the biggest hardhead that I have ever caught. I could have stuck ny fist in his mouth and still had room.
Too late for tomorrow now, but call me or PM me and I will help with some bank spots. I have little kids so I am always taking them on bank trips.

Ended up doing down to Grand Isle. We fished a couple spots on the side of the road by the bridges. We fished the new pier in the bay in Grand Isle too. Ended up catching 2 Sheepshead, 1 20in Red, few little white trout, couple hardheads, channel mullet, and lost a really nice flounder (heartbreaker). No specks to be found today. I talked to a guy fishing on the side of the road and he had caught a few earlier in the day. He said it was really slow. Alex, my girlfriend, caught her first Red today. It was quite a fight from the pier, but we were using heavy enough line to be able to pull it up on the pier. It was a good day, other than the strong south wind that made things a little tough.

Looks like it was a good day. Nothing wrong with the sheepies either..........

Yea. Nothin wrong with the sheepshead. I was hoping we would catch a few more. The channel mullet and croakers started just taking out bait as soon as it hit the water.
