Anybody want to give it a shot? :buttrock:

Thinking of a Bonnabel launch and fishing between there and West End or on the backside between the launch and the Causeway. Wouldn't mind some company. If I go solo, I'll prolly take the big boat and hit the Causeway a few miles out.

jallen,
Last time I was out that way the Bonnable launch was closed because of the construction. Treasure chest launch was open as well as the old west end.

As far as the Kenner launch, I looked up some info and "supposedly", it is closed from 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. for dredging. I'm "assuming" you can launch after 6:30 p.m. Beings it's Friday, I'm hoping to crews quit early and I can get out after 5:00 if I luanhed there.

As for Bonnabel, I understand they are doing some construction there, but have a "short cut" to get around it. I guess I'll find out one way or another.

My plan is still spinning in my mind, but if I take the big boat, now I am thinking I might fish from the Parish line canal out to the west and then maybe hit the rigs out that way on the way back.

Are you gonna fish from the yak or the big boat?

They are doing construction at Bonnabel, but you can access the launch. They have created a temporary entrance to the area.

Fishin' from the big boat. Going to launch @Williams around 6:00 and hit the rigs out that way and the flats past the parish line canal.

Williams was closed @5:30. Dredge barge was blocking the entrance. Kenner cop had no detail, but the signs posted only said..."Closed Mon-Fri until further notice"....

Launched at Bonnabel. Headed straight out to the first hump (8 miles???). Stopped about a mile or less before and started trolling north. Busted a speck while coming out from under the first crossover before the first hump and spun the boat around to go back to the same piling.

At that point I was heading back into the waves and took 3 or 4 over the bow while making the second cast at the same piling that netted the first speck.

While trying to get the boat pointed in an attitude condusive to survival, I gave up on that second cast and reeled it hurridly in only to find my Opening Night Deadly Dudley "tail-hooked"........ Yup.... I was on 'em. Problem was, I was out of the good graces of the Lady P and quickly running out of daylight considering it was going to be a long "putt" back against the steadily increasing waves/wind to water conducive enough to plainng out the bow and heading back to the launch.

Oh well. I cracked the code. If only for a moment... I found them in the "P". I know they were there and I know I could've busted their a$$ if'n I had more boat. Yea, yea, yea.... If "if" were a skiff, and all that...

On another note. I saw three yaks out this evening. Saw a pair of them fishing between Bonnabel Boat launch and West End. I saw them back at the lauch. Was a green Cobra Tandem and a yellow Ocen Kayak.

The other was a Pelican which I saw a mile or so out on the bridge on my way in. Pretty commendable if I do say so... quite a paddle for a Castaway 116. I tryed to talk to him, but I think he was jamming on his ipod and all I git was that he had caught 1 flounder. I was impressed with his ambition to have been out there to begin with. I later saw him paddling in and thought about asking him if he would have like a ride in, but he was "strokin'....

Did not get a chance to talk to any of them back at the launch as it was rush hour at dusk with everybody picking up.

So... Who were you guys?????
