Hello everyone, I just bought a garmin etrex summit HC and I am a little confused about which map that I need to buy for the type of fishing that we do, marsh and coastal areas. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

Garmin's marine map is called Bluechart g2. You have to buy it through the Garmin website. Its easy to find from the website. I'd recommend getting them to mail you the CD as I had some difficulties downloading it.

You can get away with using Topo USA 98 as long as you don't plan to go offshore much. Blue charts are good, but I use Navionics for water features, which isn't a Garmin option.

Garmin Topo works well for our Marsh. Buying direct from Garmin is high as giraffes nuts! www.southshoremarineservices.com If its not on there I can get ya pricing

I have the same GPS unit and I have loaded the TOPO U.S. 24K SOUTHEAST , and it has done fine for me. I usually view it in Google Earth when I get home anyway b/c its more accurate. It really made a difference when I loaded them to my Summit HC rather than the standard map that comes with it. You dont actually load the whole disc on your unit, but just the area you will be fishing that weekend. You can easily change the maps you have loaded when its connected to your computer. I hope this helps.

One more thing, you do have to get the disc b/c the Summit Hc does not have a SD card slot, just built in memory.
