Here's a step by step (sort of) for the minnow i tied.

Attach thread and tie in rabbit strip. Add weight before the rabbit if you want it.

Tie in chenille and palmer it. Then tie in a hackle.

Palmer hackle and secure it to the shank. Then pull the rabbit over and tie it down

Stack/spin egg yarn. I just spread the yarn into a cylinder, push the hook eye through the center and wrap it with a couple turns of thread. I also switched to GSP to do this. Tie off thread after done stacking. This is 3 separate clumps of egg yarn for the head.

Trim head with scissors. I like to do short on the bottom and sides, and a little taller on the top. Then i use markers to color the head. The bottom color is blue that i blended with my fingers. then the markings are made with black. It matched the rabbit strip...

We did great with this fly. In addition to having great action, it suspends and sits level. I bet it would be a killer for big specks...if you're into that kind if thing.

Thanks for sharing.

Specks like any color as long as it's chartreuse.

Ifishinmysleep,

I just saw your reply. Thanks. I use this set-up when i take fly pictures. http://flyartstudio.com/wordpress/?p=187 The guy goes through each aspect of the normal point and shoot camera and explains what each means. I use a piece of black foam for the background and a small tripod the snap the pictures. one thing that helped out alot for me was setting the timer on the camera to take the shot instead of me pressing the button. In the macro modes, any slight movement results in blurry photos.
