Massey's is running a sale, and the Ultimate is down to $825. Does anyone know if the club discount we get is good on sale items?
Also, those of you with Native Ultimates, do you have any gripes about them? I'm hoping to head down and get this in the next hour or so.

The only gripe I have heard is that they don't have scuppers. Keep a big car wash sponge or hand pump to get the water out if you ever have to.

Dad uses a Shamwow. He says it works alot better than a sponge. It is easier to pack than a pump. Just my opinion.

does the ShamWow work better than a kayak boat sponge that they sell at a kayak store.

Thanks Tommy,
I picked one up at Massey's today, most comfortable boat I've ever sat in. I'd love to get me a peddle drive hobie, but I don't fish enough anymore to justify the cost. Ultimate seems like a solid ride, I already like it more than the X-factor and I haven't hit the water yet.

Friend of mine has a Ultimate. He loves it. He spends more time standing in it than sitting. But, when he does sit, .....extreme comfort.
I have the ultimate and would say I stand just as much as I sit. I love that I have the ability to stand with ease.

I have 12 foot ultimate with a stinger anchor. Never had problems with water getting in and that seat is very comfortable. My only gripe would be it is a bit harder to paddle than my tarpon 140. Maybe the extra 2 foot on the tarpon would account for it. Overall it is a great boat.

I do not know if it is better since I have not used a kayak boat sponge.

BCKFC discount at Massey's is 10%. The Ultimate discounted to $825 is at 14% of the original price so you get the greater of the two. I just sold one to a girl this morning, but we have a few left in the company. I can give you inventory specifics if you want to contact me at the Carrollton location 504-648-0292.
As far as the lack of scupper plugs, your right the Ultimate is not self baling. A Shamwow is a good idea, not enough water gets in to warrant a pump, but the gunwales are deep enough that I have not had to much trouble with the water that got in there.
If you like the Ultimate you will love the Commander, by far my favorite yak that's not a Hobie. It tracks like a 14.0 at 12.0 and it's more stable than the ultimate. I've actually tried to flip one and couldn't, water came over the sides but if would not tip. It also has a reinforced transom for an electric trolling motor (54lbs of trust max). Can't the motor during a tournament obviously, but it would help getting to a duck blind this winter.

I went with the Ultimate, picked it up in Covington yesterday. I'll probably make my own trolling motor mount for it, but man I'm in love with this boat. All I need is some rod holders and the adapt-a-track storage bag and I'm gtg.

I bought a Commander 120 from Blake at Massey's week before last. I've already rigged it with a motor and way too many other things. Fished it all week and love it. It tracks near perfectly. It is harder to turn w/o a rudder while paddling, however. But both of those attributes are both attributed to the same thing. The full length keel. It is also quiet and has way less hull slap than our Ride.
We also fished out of a pair of Danny's Ultimates Monday morning. A 14.5 and a 12. I was impressed with them. The seats are very comfortable. Maybe even more so than the Commander. I think the Commander is more stable and the seat sliding under the rear deck is a great feature. You can sit in the seat. Slide it back under the deck and sit on top of the rear deck and of course stand. Oh, and with my knees...standing has never been an option in my Ride. I can stand fairly well (I'll get better) and even paddle from a standing position in the Commander.
I hope WS comes out with a longer Commander. I could use more capacity and my fishing partner is already eyeing up my new Commander.

jallen355, when we were at Lake Martin demo day the rep was there with the new Commander and he said they would be coming out with a 14' model but the 12' was always the first model to be introduced and then they go from there. I did like the set up but like you was looking for a bigger model due to my slim petite frame...lol.

I LOVE my 14.5 Ultimate Propel, The seat is the BEST. I've had it over a year now, almost never get water in it. More comming off my feet when I get in than any thing else. Stable, easy in and out, tracks good, a Great seat and hands free travling. But then thats just me, but not a surf boat !!!!!:biggrin:
