Thinking about fishing the rock dam with the full moon tonight. Anyone else fishing or interested in fishing?

Throw something that looks like a shiner or shrimp right under the surface!

I was going to go tonight as I am on vacation all week but have a customer wanting his mudboat worked on for the weekend. Got to tear down a motor tomorrow. Good luck tonight fellas. Be safe!

What, no report yet???

Inquiring minds wanna know.

I was driving home at midnite looking at the moon wishing I would've gone, but had to be home to take my kid to the dentist (no Swamppro comments please). Woke up this morning to the wife telling me that she's taking him and the other 2 boys. So, now I'm home alone with nothing better to do than gripe about the trip I missed last night.

Couldn't have said it better man. Lure of the night was berkley gulp shrimp and the new berkley gulp ghost shrimp. Trout and Reds are stacked up at the dam but there is more bait in the water there than ever before. Caught everything from catfish, to redfish and croakers. Market bait would only produce catfish, reds and specks were picking up the gulp. There were some big fish feeding around there, both of us had what I assume was reds break our line like it was nothing. Also had porpoise feeding around our boats just about the whole night.

I will be doing this again on the next night with a good moon, and tide. Hope some more people can make the next trip.

I've fished at night before, but that was my first kayak trip at night. Looking forward to doing it again.

I luv night fishin' in the summer! It sure beats the heat of the day.

Never done it here, though. Do the gnats still try to bleed you dry at night?

I went down to the MRGO dam with Raywolf and one of our bosses last night. EL SKUNKO. Actually I did reel in 3 crabs that decided they like soft baits. Our boss got one hardhead, but other than that, nadda.
Pretty strong wind throughout the night that continued to pick up. Did not see much in the way of bait. Did see a bunch of eels near the surface. Did not see or hear any reds crashing after bait and did not see Flipper at all tonight.
Pretty strong tar or creosote type smell that also got stronger thru the night. Though we did not bring home anything at least we got out on the water. Heard Don Dubuq mention this morning that Breton Sound is now one of the areas closed for fishing, etc.

It was a interesting trip, Mike is going to give classes on how to properly install bed extenders. I will let him explain how NOT to install them.
