Has anyone seen the lake today? Trying to see if it's rough on the lake. I am planning to launch from Irish bayou and troll the twin span after work today. If it's too rough I'll have to go to plan b and fish the shallow flats in bayou bienvinue.

It was very dirty yesterday. I didn't really notice the sea state.

the lake is very rough and very brown...any wind with a W in it usually is a no go to the lake for me.....

I guess eventually some of you will learn where to launch in and around Lake P, with the conditions at hand. Just check the winds and see where to launch. The wind was blowing pretty good today from the West and Lake P was pretty choppy. But if you had launched at Irish Bayou near the truck stop, the Eastern side of Irish Bayou to the lake was smooth because of the natural wind break. When the wind comes out of the East, then you switch over to the Western side of Irish Bayou. Anything out of the North and Lake Rd or HTH is a good place to launch. And with just about any wind under 15 mph Ft. Pike or HTH can shelter you from rough water.

Went to Bayou Bienvenue today. The grass on the flats was thick and the mullets were even thicker. We anchored and started to throw some jigs and buzzbait. Ended up with 4 reds. One was borderline so we released it. Will be back with some new weedless lures to try.

I just got back from eating my lunch on the Lakefront at Southern Yacht Club. Wind was mild maybe 6 knots from the west.
2nd day I notced no pelicans or sea gulls, Only a handful of fisherman at the Point, watched the Flying Scot sailboats come in from the sailing lessons. Drove in From Hammond Via I-55, I saw 6 or 7 bass boats fishing the sawmps edge along interstate, no activity in Manschac Pass.

Ft. Pike is closed. In that area you can launch at the Rigolet's Bait & Seafood on the north side of the Rigolet's or at the Lake Catherine Marina on the south side.

Been launching from what used to be Tite's at the North foot of Hwy 11 bridge for the last three weeks; see my Trestle reports for results. Thinking of going again Sunday especially because wind will be light and initially from the North. Have also hear of trout limits caught near South Side I-10 bridge. May try that the following week if the wind turns around. Bring live shrimp if possible.
