BCKFC Club Yak Flag - UPDATE

I am checking into the costs of possibly having some club flags made for the yaks.... 12" X 18" knit, grommeted that could be mounted on a post / pvc etc. Possibly a safety orange or yellow background with the logo on it. Cost would probably be around $15 a flag. Is there any interest in doing this for safety reasons and to show club support on the water or not? Would probably have to order 100 to get price.

Let me hear from you.... Just testing interest at this point!!!!

OK, I have ordered the club flags and the cost is considerably less than what I have expected. The flags will be $9.00 each (flag only, you will responsible for pole, clips, etc). We will set a Paypal link up so you can pay there (will include small paypal processing fee) and I hope to have them in hand by the upcoming club meeting. So, if that happens I will be selling them at the meeting and you can pick up in person and take them home. Flags are 10" X 18" in size, double side printed on a yellow background with a grommeted header. I only ordered 100 so don't miss out on sporting one of these flags!

I like the idea and please don't take this the wrong way. 12" x 18" is a bit large for a safety flag unless it is made from extremely light fabric. The idea is to have the flag fly extended from the staff even in a light breeze for maximun visibility. Something a bit smaller and perhaps in a triangular shape may be more practical from a safety standpoint.
I've read were a rectangular flag when viewed below the horizon blends in with the horizon. A triangular shaped flag does not blend into the horizon an actually
stands out from the natural line of the horizon. As far a color goes hunter orange is the most visible and noticed faster than other colors in a natural environment.
I'm speaking from a safety standpoint only, as far as a decorative flag that's wide open to debate.

And I'd agree with either blaze orange or the safety yellow that you see some of the road crews wearing. I have a t-shirt in that yellow color and most people who see me in it say it's even more noticeable than the hunter's orange. Matter of fact, that's the shirt in my avatar.

Branch, I deal with a flag manufacturer all the time as we stock over 1000 flags at work for commercial (tugs, ships, etc) I can see what they can do as well if ya like. These are stitched flags though. Smallest we have at work is 2'x3' for $21.00 so I can see if they can make something for us

The one on file at Redstick for embroidery without the marsh grass silhouette looks...odd. The grass should be present. Just an opinion.

I have an LSU flag turned safety flag that is this color. Ask any of the guys that fished around me for the IFA Venice event if it was visible.

I sometimes have a hard time finding the orange flag that is on dad's Visipole in the marsh.

With that said IF the color is going to be yellow background, with whatever color logo, I would be up for a couple.

Oh and sherman, your orange paddle blades are actually much more visable than your flag. Most likely due to the movement, but that's what I saw first not your flag. You dad's flag needs to be a foot or two higher as he and I were less than 50 yards away from each other and I could not see it in the thick stuff.

Well, thanks for all the support and suggestions.... I will keep you posted before I make a hard decision to pull the trigger but looking like it is a go from the comments here. I think the smaller triangle flag would be better as well just need to see about the cost and such.

ditto. I know several of the fire dept's and other safety related folks went to the hi res yellow or whatever it is because it was apparently the best seen in both low light and bright light conditions.

My concern is in the fall and winter months is that color going to blend in more easily with the turning of marsh from green to various shades of yellow and brown and everything in between? My thinking is that at any time of the year a hunters orange color is not going to come close to blending in with any natural suroundings in the marsh, except maybe the sunrise. Whatever is decided, flying either color is better than nothing at all.

I don't know about that... Next time we're gonna be fishing together, remind me and I'll wear the shirt I have. I promise you it doesn't blend with anything. I have had people tell me they couldn't look at me while wearing that shirt since it's so bright. In fact, the wife refuses to let me wear it if she's going to be in the car with me. Says it gives her a headache.

Seriously, I know I can sit on the porch and watch the yaks go out and the yellow ones show up the best in the distance. Orange next then red but the rest of the colors blend in too good. I saw a yellow and an orange go out together last weekend and the yellow was visible much longer than the orange as they paddled off down the bayou.

Agree with the smaller size since will probably be used for safety flag.
Also, what about a more hook resistant material? I sure would be capable of hooking the thing.
If it was knit, probably looking at getting the hook stuck fairly easy....Food for thought.

Update....

Still working on the "logistics" but looking real good and will happen pretty soon. Looks like once order is placed about a 2 week delivery time. Flag would have two grommets on it with the header so we could attach to some type of pole or pvc mast so be thinking about that part.

Yes, we usually have some but are out at this moment. I am working on a reoder for those right now as well. Will keep everyone posted on status. If I can get them artwork next week we may have them pretty quick as well. I will be ordering 1000 to start with.

How to mount flag? I am thinking about mounting a scotty or ram on the back of my yak to keep it out of the way of casting. How and where will yall place the flag?

I have the "Yak Attack" light pole w/ flag that I plan on mounting mine on. I made a mount for my wife's yak out of the tent poles with the shock cording inside. Put a foam rod float on the bottom and some zip ties that have the mounting hole on top to mount flag to. We used this while on the LSU for July 4th and it worked fine.

Hopefully they have posted on here when purchased... I do have the paypal notifications of payment and number purchased. It will take longer for me to put that together but so far should not be a problem with numbers. I am guessing there is about 45-50 left (guessing) at this point. Would rather not have to do sales at that time since there will be a bunch of other stuff going on but we will see.

If the new order could be made in either red or bright orange, they would be much more visible and serve a better purpose for safety. The yellow looks good, but simply does not provide a good level of visibility.

If the new order could be made in either red or bright orange, they would be much more visible and serve a better purpose for safety. The yellow looks good, but simply does not provide a good level of visibility.
I'd like 2 if they are other than yellow.
