I started a new project this weekend. Building a bed extender for my Tacoma. Since my truck is low to the ground, I cannot use the Harbor Freight model because it will drag.
My plan is to mount two receivers on the inside of the truck bed behind the wheel wells. Then build a tube frame to extend out with a 3" or 4" PVC pipe on the cross member. The purpose of the PVC pipe is to serve as a roller.

Here is the final product. I should have used 2"x2"x1/8" tube instead of the 3/16" tube, because the assembly weight 60 lbs.

Totally cool rig. You should patent it before I do.

Looks pretty good... I may have to "borrow" that idea since I don't have a reciever on my truck. Gotta see if I can figure out how to do a bed extender/rack combo. Right now I have a PVC rack so I can carry the Magic 14.5 on top and the pelican in the bed.

Great Job! A Little over engineered for just carrying kayak. Way smaller tube (1 ") would have worked just as well and you could have used next size up tube instead if the two receivers and saved a few more dollars and weight. I like it better than a bed extender that you buy. Thanks for the post.
