I work very close to the Seabrook Bridge and have been wanting to take my kayak to fish after work, but they are doing construction on the road that gives access to the public launch near the bridge so that launch is out of the question. Does anyone know of an alternate place to lauch?

Thanks!

The beauty of having a kayak is the ability to make your own launch :D

Seriously, I've never fished down there, but Chiefbigeasy would know.

If the water is not rough put in right off the seawall

Great! Thanks for the tips. I'll have to find out where the construction stops and hope it's not too long of a paddle.

It should not be too bad. I have trolled back and forth from side to side of seabrook then worked my way around the east point and paddled around the shore. that was long

Swamp, I'm still lookin forward to our shark trip out there. Don't guess the construction will present a problem for that?

For the moment, the construction really has the place bottled up. I tried to get Bill Capo to do a follow up but then the oil well blew up, etc...

I've been considering a way to launch from Seabrook Harbor, but it's a it of a paddle through the pass and into the lake. If the tide/wind combo is strong in either direction, it will be hard and dangerous. Make sure to wear a PFD!

Go home via Slidell and go there. I only work "weekdays" 5 days out of the month (and spread out at that) but I'd be wiiling to meet in Slidell after work one day if you want to buddy up after work.

No offense intended, but seabrook to a newbie is like a tourist walking in the quarter. You can do it but you prolly need to be educated by a local first to increase chances of safety.

Just an opinion and many others may not agree.

No, I appreciate your opinion Scott. I think I will definitely postpone going to Seabrook until I get a bigger Yak. I went to Lacombe today and the lake was so rough I was tossed all over the place! It was kinda fun when I gave up on fishing and decided to "surf" the waves back to the launch.

I'm definitely up for hooking up in Slidell. Just let me know when would be a good time.

Last couple of reports I got from the area were pretty good. It's definitely not at it's peak, but it's picking up. I'm ready for the shrimp and trout to start running through there!
