Was just given an Orvis clearwater reel with a Fenwick Royale 9 foot, two-piece, 6 weight rod. I am new to flyfishing, as will soon be evident by this next question: Am I gonna break this thing fishing reds with it? Seems like most people use 8/9 weights for larger bass/reds.

You may break it, I had a 30" red break a 7wt when I got him close to the boat and he ran under it while I had the drag tightened down hard. I do know a few people however that throw 6wts to reds in the summer when the winds are low and the reds are typically smaller. The wind and big flies are why I prefer an 8wt.

The Clearwater reel may be an issue in saltwater as well.. That was my first reel and it worked well in freshwater for bream, small bass, etc.. as well as the little bit of trout fishing I have done..
but I don't think I would want to expose it to saltwater for any length of time...
