Hello all!
Greenwave got me motivated enough to want to get into kayak fishing, so I am taking the plunge and buying one very soon. I'm looking at a Mirage Revolution today.
Looking forward to meeting you all.

:welcome:
Revolutions are awesome. Make sure you try out the Outback too. And Welcome to the addiction. You might end up with both before to long.
Definetly look at the Outback's too. I was pretty much set on a Revo until I saw an Outback next to it. The revo is a bit faster but the Outback has a lot more room and is more stable. Both are good fishing yaks but the Outback is a fishing machine.
Welcome!! Your gonna love it!!:welcome:

You really shouldn't have mentioned the Greenwave thing, but I think you'll be let in anyway. If you're getting a Hobie, you can't be all bad.
Welcome to a great club-- glad to have ya!
P.S. I second the Outback over the REVO.

Wow you're pretty brave! Actually Greenwave was one of my first conversations at a club event. It's always good to see him there feels like home - welcome lookforward to meeting you sometime.

Crow, thanks for the Outback/Revo comparison. I've been advising him to keep the Outback on his radar and demo them both, as well as a few others.
Folks, please don't judge CajunRican by the company he keeps!

If we did that, "HIS" would be the only post on this thread!

We'll try man, we'll try but it will be hard. LOL
For what it's worth - I don't like Hobies but if it was one or the other it would have to be the outback. Stand and fish baby!

Thanks to all for the comments. I looked at the revo today and will test drive it tomorrow. Size and weight is right on. I hear the Outback is very popular as well.
The revo is at a very good price, so I'm heavily leaning towards it primarily for that reason.
Thanks again to all.

The revo and outback should be the same price unless they have a 2010 model leftover on sale. Try both to make sure you are getting the right boat. Those things aren't cheap...make sure you get what you want.

What JPoucher said. The Revo and Outback of the same year model should both have a retail of about $1800, UNLESS one is an older/demo/rental unit and is discounted appropriately. BUT like everyone has said, demo both. Personally, I have the PA, but would go Outback over the Revo for the fishing that I do.

I just spoke with CajunRican. You guys are starting to talk some sense into him regarding the Outback. Would anyone be willing to let him demo yours? He lives in Covington, so the North shore would be best. I imagine New Orleans or Baton Rouge areas would work too.
Thanks!

If I had one I'd be glad to. Outback is definitely a more versatile yak IMO and my choice when I can afford the kool-aid. If I were fishing offshore a lot, or taking long paddles, I'd probably go with the Revolution.

Loud and clear!! I will check both before pulling the trigger. I think there is a demo this weekend at Backpacker in Baton Rouge. I'll see if I can test both and then decide which one I like best. Does anyone know if the 10% club member discount applies to kayak purchases? It would be sweet to save some $$$$ right away on the boat purchase. Thanks.

Check with masseys in new Orleans as well as they are right across the lake from ya instead of running all the way to red stick. Redhead on the forum is the manager over there and a good guy.

I bought my Outback from the Backpacker and as long as you tell them you are in BCKFC at checkout they will give you the discount no problem.

Does the backpacker still have that 2010 Revo in stock? $1,400 with warranty.
PS I own both and if I had to choose, I'd go with the revo with the outrigger kit. Plus, if you car top it, it is much lighter.
In my opinion, the stability is only an issue if you like to stand. I just love how fast the Revo is, I'm even tempted to try and aquire an adventure.

Thanks for the feedback, that is consistent with what I've read.

Thanks to everyone who insisted I tried both boats. I ended up buying the Outback today after testing both of them. The stability and width/space of the Outback was my biggest consideration. I also purchased the bigger rudder. The people at Backpacker were very nice and offered to deliver the boat at no cost to Covington. Looking forward to hitting the water asap.

Ditto, congrats on the new ride, you're gonna love it!
Congrats on the Outback. The sailing rudder is the best upgrade you can buy for one.
