I went over to the wall today to see what was going on. There was plenty of mullet and baby pogies all over getting busted big time. I ended up with a bass, a trout and a yellow perch. All caught on a 3/4 ounce silver and chartruce rattle trap. Looks like things are shaping up in the way of trout at the lake!! B- 13" T- 15 1/2" YP 13"

Try further west along the wall. I did real well last year as far west as the last bayou before the fountain. Bite has started late this year, I guess because of the hard winter. Good to know it has finally started, thanks. Be sure to have your license and be legal on your keepers. LAWF patrols Lakeshore Dr. with 2 agents. One drives the green pick-up several yards behind the agent who walks the seawall. I never saw him coming until he was standing next to me. I reached for my lic. in my tackle bag, but since he relaized I was going to grab it he said, "that's o.k. lets see what's in the cooler". Showed him 2 nice specks and he moved on down to the family that was crabbing without a license. I think he just gave them a warning.

A little off topic but a good FYI anyway. You don't need to have a fishing liscense to use string or nets to crab but you do still have to follow the rules concernging which crabs you can keep and how many

-------
Any person using crab nets or
crab lines for the purpose of taking
crabs for recreational purposes shall
not be required to purchase or possess
a basic recreational fishing license or
be required to purchase a gear license.
However, persons using crab nets or
crab lines on LDWF WMAs or refuges
must possess a basic and saltwater
recreational fishing license or a
Wild Louisiana Stamp.
