The may be a possibility that the Hale Boggs Bridge on I-310 may be closed during PP8.

I just wanted everyone to be aware ahead of time about the potential.

Here is the link

I take Gramercy usually but I got to pick up a buddy in NOLA at the airport on the way down. Doh!

Who would I call to check to see if the bridge is open before I head down? State Police?

I have an email sent to a DOTD connection to try to find out some specifics. I'll let y'all know if she can give me any inside info.

It will be well publicized if a second closure is required. St. Charles Parish is very good about getting info out as you can see.
If it is required I will let you know. But I just thought I'd give a heads up

thanks for the heads-up. I know they've been working on it for months, but I didn't think they'd shut the whole thing down. Gonna be fun playing with those cables way up there for those guys.

Just got this from a DOTD engineer.

----
The bridge will be closed (in both directions of travel) beginning at 10:00 PM on Friday, March 18th and will not reopen again until 4:00 AM on Monday, March 21st. Therefore, a continuous 54 hour closure. If needed due to weather or more time to complete the work, the closure will be repeated the following weekend starting at the same time on Friday, March 25th.
----

Well, we all know how state road work goes. I would plan for the bridge to be closed.

So, what's the nearest alternate route from the Baton Rouge area for those who don't know???

I'm not going, but figured I'd get the questions rolling.

Take the hwy 61 exit off of I-10 to Gramercy and go over the Veterans Memorial bridge. They finished the road connecting it to hwy 3127 which goes down to 90 so it isn't a bad drive at all.

i think the exit sign says Hwy 641 correct (which leads to HWY 61 - Airline Hwy)?

Google maps has added the feature 'drag to change route.':buttrock: This feature will allow the redirect your route while keeping the starting and ending points the same.

You can take the 641 exit but if you take the Airline (hwy 61) exit it is a shorter and quicker drive. The speed limit on 61 is 65mph till you hit Gramercy so you don't lose any time by getting off the interstate 1 exit sooner than the 641 exit and you get to drive by the St. James boat club where we have our family day. Beware of going too fast down the Veterans bridge though. The local sheriff deputies like to sit down at the bottom of it with their radar going. Also watch your speed on the road past the bridge until you hit 3127 they like to sit on the sides of the road around corners to get people flying down it.

I take that route every day when I go down to Waterford so I have a pretty good bit of experience with it.

just asking, is that actually faster than running down the 310 from BR?

When the 310 bridge is open I go that way if I am going down to GI but if the bridge is going to be closed for PP8 then we will need an alternate route.

The other route is the same; its saves time if there is traffic at the ponch elevated 1-10
