View Full Version : Stealth 12 Gauging interest

Are there any lighter paddlers out there, say around 175 lbs, that would be interested in a Malibu Stealth 12? The reason being is that my anchor trolley was installed just a little too low (not by me) and my big arse at 230 lbs makes it sit too close to the water line for my taste. It showed no signs of any leakage, it's just not something I want to worry about while I'm out fishing. I've only had the boat in the water one time. It comes with the pump kit with toggle switch, and pump timer installed as well as a scotty rod holder. I bought it from one of our sponsors Kayak Fishing Supplies. I paid $1130 for it (still have the invoice), and am willing to let it go for $50 less (it's only been wet once). For what it's worth, I'm very happy with the boat and will be ordering one just like it if I can sell this one; this is by no means a "buyer's remorse" sort of deal.

if you want to repair the problem, Physco Joe has done "welding" on yaks before, you may want to send him an eamil.

that's going to be a last resort for me, but thanks for the tip nonetheless.

Just a thought, but I had a problem with my rear trolly mount when I had lots of crap in the back (more than the usual, like an icechest for a float trip or a weekend at the camp). Once I nailed it down and discovered that one of my bolts missed the backing board and T-nuts due to I slapped a couple of layers of epoxy over the holes and its ship shape. I wasn't taking on much water (about an inch or two in the keel crease over a full day float trip) but it's nice to know that it won't be a problem in the future. I am sure that is another "last resort" styled approach, but it worked for me.

I figure if I can't sell, that I can install a hatch in the back to be able to put gasket material on both sides, I just would rather it done "right" and not deal with all of that. I honestly don't believe it will be an issue for a lighter paddler.

I fall into the 175 class and wouldn't mind the boat. Problem is that I can't put that kind of money together right now, and with the new baby and all, who knows when I will be able to.

so you wouldn't be concerned with two well nuts being used below the water line?

OCD - obsessive compulsive disorder - like Monk. Everything has to be juuuuust right, orderly, organized. You know, just like all the engineers that work for Exxon or the other chem plants. One of those guys who has to fix it even when it ain't broke.
On a similar note... I was recently diagnosed with CDO.
It's the same thing as OCD but it's alphabetical order like it supposed to be!!!
