I think that the consensus here is that any fish bag isn't going to last for an extremely long time due to punctures in the soft liner made my the dorsal spines. I think that 90% of people probably use the $9 California Inovations bags at Academy. Don't need to worry about messing it up, just get a new one.

B.I.G. is right.

I fit all of this in my California Innovations bag including those bottles of ice. Those Sheepshead take up a lot of room. That was about the limit for the bag though. Not one more fish could of been squeezed in there.

Sheepshead are the absolute worst fish to put in a soft cooler. Their dorsal spines will even make holes in a regular Igloo ice chest. Here's a tip to save your cooler bag and ice chest that I learned from some old-timers. Cary a small pair of cutting pliers and just snip off the points on the dorsal fins before putting the fish in your bag or box.

I checked the cooler section of the BR Airline Academy and the associate had no clue what I meant.
I'd appreciate it if someone could please, pretty please with mullet strips on top, post a pic or more specifics on exactly which bag you use.
The only $9 California I found was a lunch bag.

That's the one we are talking about. I think the only place you can buy them is at Sams...unless you buy online. That's where we get ours.

This is the one that is 9 dollars at Academy. Comes in 3 colors red, blue and green. I always find them on the bottom shelf of the aisle that has the lunch box coolers. The Academy on Airline seems to be out of them all the time but the one on Seigen has them in stock most of the time.

I think they're seasonal at Academy.... I have only seen them there 1 time. Sams always has them!

And I have never seen them at Sam's.

Might actually see them if I went to Sam's though.:hide:

Thanks for the info, folks. I just got back from purchasing 2 at Sam's Club (Slidell).
If anyone is interested, they are the 56-can models for $8.88. Six cases were on display, so no shortage if you need one.
The bags are located on a middle aisle with chests, beach chairs, rain gear, a canoe, etc.

Have these been discontinued? Tried the local Academy and their website with no luck. Sams shows them as out of stock. California Innovations website shows no reference to them. Found some on Amazon for $29.99 a bag and Ebay for $87.36 a bag.

I bought two of those at Sams on Wednesday. They were by the bbq pits and outdoor patio furniture.

Time to put the issue to rest...

So I went through the same problem as all of you over which fish bag to buy. While it is true that continuously buying California Innovations bags will be about the same price as other solutions, I decided to go for broke and buy a long lasting ice bag.

These American Outdoors coolers (http://www.aocoolers.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=9) can be found at Pack and Paddle in Lafayette (club discount!). They have a lifetime leak proof guarantee and hold ice all day. The outer shell is a hard vinyl and "being tear resistant up to 375 pounds, but is also waterproof and anti-mildew." The inner liner can be pulled inside out, so cleaning it is also very easy. All told, mine cost 69.95.

I have been very satisfied with this product and haven't looked back.
