Thinking of playing Huck Finn tomorrow morning and getting away for a quick trip. Wind looks problematic. Any suggestions for clean water with a strong E wind?

What about lee shore of Hopedale Lagoon? Grass beds there might keep the muddy water down. How does Magnolia fare in an E wind?

I've fished Mag in a strong E wind and caught fish....but you just have to deal with the wind. Nothing to shelter you. I've never tried Hopedale Lagoon on that wind.
I've got the day off and was thinking about getting out too. Wanna meet up and see if we can find something?

I have three ideas juggling up in the air.....the dam at MRGO, lee shore grass of Hopedale Lagoon, and grass beds at Mag... light 6 mph morning E wind turning to 15 to 20ish as the day goes on. I'll probably get out early and fish 'till 10 or so. I've fished the Hopedale Lagoon with pretty strong E winds and done OK. Not sure how Mag or the dam would be.

Catfish is killer this time of year... all the canals are deep that run to the eastern bank were all the oyster beds are... try all the washouts and fish the lee bank and you are sure to pick up some good trout.

Thanks Choup! I am trying the MRGO dam tomorrow, and will save Catfish Lake for when I have more time to explore it since it will be a new spot for me. Maybe that will be my next hook-up.

The land around MRGO should protect you from the winds. Paddling back to BSM against the wind is tough once you turn that corner. Watch out for reflective waves coming off that straight cliff-like shoreline.
