Well my Eagle Cuda came in Friday and I decided to hook it up on my Tarpon. I had every intention of going out to try some sac a lait spots today but my in laws came to town, so I stayed home to spend some time with them. When they left, I took my yak down to my neighborhood lake to try out my new rig (just paddling, no fishing) Wow, was I impressed! First of all, I've been fishing that lake for a couple of years now and I just found out that I really know nothing about it. I found out where the deep holes were and I saw schools of fish on the sonar. Can't wait to get out there with a jig and try some deep structure for sac a lait.
I'll post pics later of my rig. I also made some rod holders for the back too..the kind that gets my reels up high so when I go in the surf this summer, I can keep my reels relatively dry. I wasn't happy with the two that I had attached to my ice chest.
Oh, and by the way, my brother and his son (my godchild) went to the mine today. They had to work hard for them today (low water and no tide). They ended up with 8 pretty reds (one was 30 in.)

Don't get too excited about the fish, my 'Cuda found a bunch in my backyard swimming pool.
Turn down the sensitivity on it and you won't get so many false fish readings. I haven't messed with my Cuda in the water yet but I had an older model Eagle fishfinder/gps on my bay boat and it would pick up lots of artifacts just from water turblence. I turned the sensitivity down to about half and I could still see my lure moving up and down on the screen.

You will always get terrible readings in a pool as its cement and the return is bouncing all over the place.
Lower your sensitivity some and you can read structures and fish clear. with my cuda I could pick out fish on the bottom of Seabrook in over 50' of water and pick up my lure all the way down.

Man ive been having my cuda for two years and just thought the false readings was because the unit was cheap. I just lived with the false readings. What should I lower my sensitivity to? I have a through hull placement.

While on the water lower it slowly and you will see the picture clear up. Jig a lure straight down and you should be able to see it bouncing.

Maybe you need to give a class on "How to use your electronics effectively" for the people that need help Swamp.

If we can get enough people interested I may do it at a meeting in the future. I could do it on the complete rigging and setup.

Sounds like another Academy rigging day. The boats are a little better there now. I don't see any more Cast-aways in the BR stores.

If the officers want to set a clinic up I would love to do one. It's what I do anyway.

Did the same thing. Got my Cuda, thanks swamppro, and been driving around with it in the truck. Getting used to the GPS
trailing and navigation features. Not sure about where I wanted the ducer or the monitor, So I used silicone to mount the
ducer in the hull and rigged the monitor with bungees on the front hatch. Also, put in a couple of xtra mesh pockets and a
sailing rudder, all ideas complements of Chickapin after Christmas (thanks for the post). Working on getting the rest.....
Note on the Sailing rudder: had to turn the cleat on the back so the bigger rudder wouldn't get stuck when pulled up.
One day soon when work slows down, I'll get to try out the Cuda on the water. Especially the wireless lure guide function.
Ok, maybe not, but it does have a lot of features.
ACK has the ram mount adaptors that fit into the sail hole on the hobies that work well and you don't have to put another hole into your yak. Other places have that adaptor but ACK is by far the cheapest that I have found.
