I saw this reel a couple of weeks ago and I love the looks of this reel . It sounds like it is pretty solid.

My only problem with it is it only has 8.8 lbs of drag. I think for that price there should be a stronger drag on it.
Maybe I am just comparing it to my Revo Inshore which has 24 lbs of drag. Maybe it is like comparing apples to oranges.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I agree. The smoothness of the drag is much more important than the max. drag limit. I set my drag by hand by the fish I'm targeting. Light effort pull = trout. Medium effort pull = redfish. Not very scientific, I know. I'm guessing most people probably set their drag to less than 5lbs. You can always add more drag with a thumb or palm.

Daiwa tends to be very honest with their drag numbers. I'd be very surprised if your Revo makes half that much drag. 24 pounds is what a lot of large offshore reels produce.

Yes I agree 24 lbs sounds like alot of drag but I bet this reel is really nice to fish with. Having owned and tried many reels in my life I will stick with the Curado's, Had a Revo was very nice and smooth but gave it to my son (just could not get used to it) Father in law owns some very pricey nice reels (one was about $350) when he bought it and when we fish together most of the time he uses his Curado's also. But just remember" Ya get what Ya paid for", or how for those of You who remember "costs a nickel more to go first class" now that would be $100.00 or better doe to inflation

Tackle tour also did a review of the Revo Inshore a while back.

Drag: Not much to be said here because the Carbon Matrix drag on the Revo Inshore is the same as the Revo STX that we reviewed last year. Again in the lab we were able to produce a hefty 24 pounds of drag pressure from these carbon fiber washers and throughout the range it’s silky smooth. In the field, fine tuning adjustments are enhanced by the clicking drag star and can make all the difference between landing a fish and losing it especially when you have something like a big striped bass at the end of the line bending your rod over double time and you need to relieve some pressure from the rod and let the drag do what it is designed to do.

Now I'm finished robbing this thread.
