I am in the market to purchase my first kayak. I am a big guy 6'5" 300 lbs and would love to get an hobie outback or revolution bit I am concerned with stability . The pro angler is an option but I am trying to find something a litlle less pricey to start my new addiction. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a Pro Agler for sale for $1800 tricked out and ready to fish. That is less than the cost of a new Outback. Let me know if we can make a deal.

Thanks reel I saw your yak on the sportsman and I am definitely interested. I really like the pro angler and I am leaning in that direction. I will let you know something by Wednesday .

Ri****adeal. I sailed mine for the first time this weekend; I'm 165, my son is 50 lbs. Bout 20 lbs of ice in the front and typical fishing gear. Probably the best freeboard for lots of cargo..... if you're crafty you could make some outriggers to make the PA an all out yacht. Can't say it hasn't crossed my mind...
I guess Rid ick a deal is censored. PA is a solid platform. If I was over 6' and 300, I don't think there would really be any other option. Unless you want to ride wet all the time. That big ol' elevated seat sure is nice from 0530 to 1700, it's a recliner in the kayak world. There will be several at outcast including mine and you're more than welcome to come take her for a spin.
Good luck Grape ape. Unfortunately at your size you are going to be a bit limited. Don't forget our usual advice to demo as much as you can before pulling the trigger. If you decide to demo a pelican please let us know. We need video of that.

You have some options
1. Pro-Angler-capacity 600 lbs.
2. Cobra Fish N' Dive- capacity 600 lbs. (My original is still floating around. I think it's for sale again.)
3. Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game™ Angler- capacity 550-600lbs.
4. Malibu Kayaks- X-Factor- capacity 600 lbs, Stealth 14- capacity 550 lbs.
All of these boats will make good kayaks. I left out the 16 footers because they're a bit too long for ideal marsh fishing, but they're workable. Definitely go to a demo day before purchasing.

Ocean Kayak Prowler Trident is another one... 500-550 lbs capacity. And this one probably paddles better than the other paddle boats mentioned.

My Prowler Big Game carries me, trolling motor, battery, and all my gear (around 350#) with no problem. Only time my rear gets wet is from waves coming over the side. Some call it a barge but I like my tow boat.

I have the Cobra Fish n Dive. I am with Derrel on this one, call it a barge but works fine for me. I am 5'-8", 240. This boat is as stable as it gets. Look around the forum, there are a couple for sale.

Grape Ape, been in your position and bought the boats. Do you want to pedal or paddle? Answer that first.
Paddle-Malibu x-factor, stable, 600lb capacity, about $1,000 new. Good boat in the waves. Lots of people use them offshore California, not marsh but beyond the breakers.
Pedal - Pro Angler only way. had the Outback, it was stable but "crowded" and wet in the drive area. PA is NICE, dry, comfy. Don't know about a beach launch.
As a fellow Big Boy, your options are somewhat limited.
Let me knwo it you have any questions.

Deffantly can't go wrong with an x-factor I have one with rudder, gator hatch, xwing the whole nine yards and it'd a great kayak I can load it down with stuff and still paddle around in 2 inches of water. U can't go wrong with a malibu.

I've owned two pelicans; a 8.5 footer which will immediately flip over if you way more than 150 pounds (my tiny GF loved it so I kept it; at $130 bucks who cares). I figured I'd upgrade to the 10 footer....returned it the same day.

Malibu Stealth 14
I fish in the gulf off of Dauphin Island, the roughest seas I have been in were like 3-5 ft moderate chop. I had 2 or 3 waves break over the bow cause I didn't have anything in the backseat. Normal conditions are 2-3 ft seas are nothing.
The stealth is loaded, and look how much storage room, behind you the front the two side hatches, those are awesome. Oh and the built in live well!!! All you need is a seat, paddle, ice chest and anchor. everything else is done. Sure the X factor holds 600 pounds, but its not tricked out like the stealth

scratch the revolution. I'm 6'3" and fish a prowler big game. Get you a big solid boat and you will be happy. If price is an issue start out with a big game and upgrade to a PA later. If you have the coin jump on it.
