Hey everyone, I've been lurking for awhile and registered for the forum a few days ago and decided I should post at some point, so here it is. I just got a canoe about a month and a half ago  and have taken it out a couple of times with mixed results. I grew up fishing out of pirogues and don't have much experience in canoes or kayaks, but I am really pleased with my Old Town Guide 147 (although it is a kite in the wind). Of course now I need a kayak to add to my arsenal, so I guess I'll have to go ahead and win that Quest at PP7 everyone is talking about....

Can't wait for PP7

Thanks for the welcome guys - As of yet I haven't caught a salty from the canoe, I also haven't ever won a fishing tournament :frown: - But there's a first time for everything ;).

Welcome aboard even if you are currently fishing with a Yankee boat.

My Buffalo was small-batch-pressed out of Royalex in Arkansas by a small livery and rental that builds their own. Isn't OK based out of the same town the newbie's canoe ie. Old Town, Maine? I'm just saying.

Welcome! It's a great club to be a part of. Next meeting is in New Orleans. Easy way to join and see what it's all about before PPVII.

Thanks for the defense BRB - I checked it out and it seems the earliest canoe found was in the Netherlands and the Kayak was invented in either Alaska or Greenland, so we are all paddling "yankee boats" (we need to start a pirogue only club and keep it local ). I was thinking about coming to the new orleans meeting and trying to recruit a buddy or two that just got paddlecraft.

pawpawd - born and raised in Harahan, and just bought a house about a year ago less than a mile from where I grew up.

I look forward to meeting everyone either at the meeting or PP7 (I normally work Saturdays, but am pretty sure I can get off )
