Repairing Turbo Fins

I remembered either on the forum or on one of Choupique's seminars that there was an easy solution to repair hobie turbo fins with rods poking through the fin. Has anybody done a diy repair to the fins?

I repair mine about every second or third trip. Take them off and repair with black electrical tape. Has done the trick for almost two years now.
