Just got finished building a boat rack in my new garage. Thought I'd share some pics:

now that the boats are on it i'm going to shorten the beams a little bit so they don't stick out so far & i'm also planning on lining them with foam & reinforcing the whole thing a little more. It feels pretty solid though as it is.

Definitely looks sturdy enough.

Good looking storage rack. I have to ask, did you consider making it out of PVC?

Nice looking racks. I don't have the room inside my garage so I hang mine from my fence. Anyone have any ideas or some plans for some type of cover to protect them from UV rays? BTW, Hobie, I'm lovin' the new avatar!

Thanks doc. I try.

I keep my kayaks on the double jet ski trailer when I am offshore. I tried to throw a tarp over them and tie it up and all of that but it got to be a pain. Eventually I broke down and got a 10' by 10' pop up canopy. Now it wouldn't cover the entirety of my kayak's if there wasn't a fence on two sides and a work shop on a third side but it works great with the way I have it set up. I keep looking at those Danuu bags but they are a bit too expensive for me to pull the trigger on, but I would love to have something like that.

hah! no, i hadn't actually thought about PVC. i always forget about PVC. anyway i wanted it to be super-sturdy because i plan on adding another shelf above the pirogue to store more lumber. i know there are different grades of PVC, but for some reason i never trust it for critical stuff like making sure my hand-made pirogue doesn't fall 6 feet.
