Would like to make my first trip out of M.G. or Mag. If anyone's thinking about heading that way next Sunday I'd like to learn the area (launch points, etc.). Live in Metairie. Thanks, Mike

I might be going mag or buras this weekend unless the wind is really calm then i'll probably go fish the bridges in lake pont.

Yeah that sounds like a good strategy. I would not go to mag with little or no wind. I rather fish mag with 30 mph winds then no wind at all.

Amber Romance = who cares?

I know some of y'all can't get past the smell, but it beats the snot out of being eaten alive. Gnats don't care about deet.

I think it has been posted on here before, but Myrtle Grove isn't the most kayak friendly location. If I'm remembering correctly someone on the old forum said that the property on either side of the MG canal is posted/private for something like 8 miles.

Magnolia is supposed to be a great hotspot for reds, but I haven't had the kind of luck others have had there. Joshua's in Buras would probably be my first choice if I was going.

I plan on being down in the area this weekend as long as the winds aren't to bad

I'm not too sure about showing up in a town named Magnolia, wearing Amber Romance, to meet two guys I've never met before. Sounds like the plot of some sick movie on the Lifetime Channel. I'll just do what my Dad used to do.
5 gallon galvenized bucket, big pile of oily rags, zippo lighter
If only there was room for a few "more" things on the yak.
Is it politically correct to to start a small fossil fuel fire in the marsh and paddle around with it ???

y'all are crazy..Leave the perfume with your significant other..

Just cover up..lightweight fishing slacks, long sleeves, & a buff sleeve for the face.

no wind = sightfishing..

Post up where you guys are gonna fish. I may be able to make it. Got a commitment for 2:00 PM, so may have to see how things go with that whether I go or not.

I'm still down to go on sunday, but my band is playing saturday night and it will be late late late, so I won't be out there at the crack of dawn.

it seems like everyone is leaning towards buras? i've never been, so i'm definitely interested in learning the area.

Sunday and Buras both sound good to me too. Like tecnick I havn't fished the area either, but would like to learn someplace new. Good idea about posting up here and then planning on meeting somewhere Sunday morning. Tides look to be pretty flat, only about 1/2 foot on my charts, if any one else can confirm that thanks.

Domo,
Last minute change of plans. I'll be at the mag in the am about 06:45. Hopefully the bite is on.
