My wife said she heard the White House announce today that there will be no new drilling in the Gulf for 7 years. You guys hear anything about that?

I think it's along the Florida coast and along the east coast. Don't think the LA coast will be affected, but who knows?

Does not effect LA drilling.

It reverses course on opening new areas off FL, Atlantic and Pacific coasts. Last March Obama admin. was considering developing these new areas, but after the big BP spill they "re-thought" the idea. So did the public. The push against exploration in these new sites was bolstered by the effects of the BP spill. FL legislators (even Republicans) are strongly against it.

let gas hit $5.00 a gallon and they will be begging to drill, sooner or later everyone is going to want to drill when gass prices are higher, money talkes, everything else is just a state of mind.

The indicator will be diesel @ $4/gallon, trucking will shut down. They rode it to $5 last year but never again.
Totla lack of leadership in the government.

Working in the offshore market we see the effects pretty well already since the spill. Many of the companies worked for BP as that was and for some the only income. Now that is stopping and most boats are just tied up either just sitting or for sale. Many of the companies are going over seas where drilling is going on and new contracts are being made. In the last couple of months you would not believe how many clients have been packing up their vessels and heading to Trinidad and so on. Its ashame as they will never be back. I am working the International Work Boat Show this week and you can cut the tension with a knife there.
