Last time I was out my Carlise Magic snapped at the nylon ferule that joins the two halves together. Anyone out there ever fix one of these?

I emailed Carlise and they said after the 1 year warranty expires (my paddle is 13 months old!) there is nothing they can do.

I don't care if the thing is a one peice after the repair - i'd just like to get it working again.

I'm not familiar with that paddle, but I had a two-piece pushpole that I had to permanently join together. The company supplied me with a plastic insert (similar to a short length of PVC and some West Marine two-part epoxy.) I epoxied the two halves together using the insert and it has worked well for over 7 years now. I guessing that ant method similar to that would work on your paddle.
Good Luck!

How about a picture of the break? I have a couple sections of composite paddle shafts. Maybe a section can repair the damage?

The forum doesn't recognize me as a paid member so I can't open the attachment. Once the problem is corrected, I'll check it out.

get you a piece of PVC, that will fit over each end, and epoxy it on there or rivet it

Remove the metal clip inside the ferrule's broken piece. It slides out after you push the buttin in far enough. Use 2 part epoxy and light weight fiberglass. Spread the epoxy on the inside of both pieces and a little on the broken edge. Saturate a piece of fiberglass cloth with epoxy and push in from the top so as to cover the broken part on both sides on the inside. Keep the outside clean. You can use rubbing alcohol to keep excess epoxy off the outside of the pieces. Let dry and cure for 24hrs. Replace the clip. If you have a piece of pvc that will fit inside the broken pieces, that will reinforce it even more. Just wrap the PVC with epoxy and light weight fiberglass, and then slide that inside the 2 pieces. The fiberglass and epoxy will fill any gap between the pvc and and ferrule due to pvc not being exact size. Should last forever.
