Price Includes:
Kayak, Paddle, PFD, Anchor, Supper, Breakfast, Lunch, Instructional Seminar, On the water instruction.

Join John Williams and Brendan "Choupique" Bayard - Hobie Regional Kayak Fishing Team member for an exciting weekend of kayak fishing. This group trip will combine the best in group kayak fishing action with off the water and on the water instruction geared towards making you a more successful fisherman.
The trip will center on the Hopedale area south of New Orleans - long known for its legendary redfish and speckled trout fishing in the fall. Our trip will begin as we carpool from Lafayette on Friday afternoon to the Hopedale area where we will meet Brendan at our accommodations for the night. A simple supper will be provided as we all get to know one another. After supper, Brendan will lead a seminar covering (but not limited to) the following topics:

Fishing tactics for specific species; reds, trout, flounder.
Seasonal patterns (with the main focus being on the current season).
Making the right Bait/Lure choice for the species/season.
Kayak Rigging.
Safety Equipement.
Optimizing your Tackle. (knots/lines/reel/rods)

We'll be up early on Saturday for a quick breakfast and head out to put our knowledge into action. The exact fishing area will be determined on the fly based on Brendan's knowledge of the winds, tides and weather. We'll spread out in groups of two and fish the morning - with Brendan traveling between groups and offering advice and tips. We'll take out of the water around 11 and share a lunch together. In the afternoon, we'll put in again (location TBD) and fish the afternoon, again with Brendan hopping between pairs to help out.
This trip is a wonderful opportunity to fish one of the best saltwater inshore areas in the state with one of the most accomplished kayak fishermen in the state along to help you learn the ins and outs of becoming efficient and successful on the water. Fishing with Brendan is a treat and an education - vastly accelerating your learning curve and making you a much better fisherman in 1 weekend.

What is Semi-Guided with Instruction?
The term "Semi-Guided" means that we will provide your fishing kayak, PFD, anchor and paddle (if needed) for your day on the water. The trip leader will pick the exact put-in location the day before the trip depending upon weather and tides. Your trip leader will make suggestions on lures and techniques and will paddle out with you to point out areas that may be holding fish. He will check back with you during the day to make suggestions and help out if you are having problems and possibly re-locate you if you are not catching fish. Participants must provide their own rods, reels and other fishing gear and be prepared to fish without assistance from the trip leader. Participants must also be ready and able to handle the fish that they catch while on the water.

This was talked about at the seminar last night. Guys, it sounds like a great weekend. A seminar from Brendan, then a day fishing with him giving instruction. Also a good chance to learn the Hopedale area if you don't know it yet.

I sure could use something like that. But, will be at Disney World. Would like to make a suggestion though, have a seminar one evening or Sunday. You can still get a resonable fee and would probably get a good showing. Yep, without the hands on, but sounds like it would be worth it. Food for thought.
