Falling Tide 5 is now in the past;
anticipation great, the turny a blast.
Postings were read and smack talk was fun,
all had a great time under the sun.

But I wake this morning and much to my dismay
I still find postings of Cobia's swim in the bay.
I'm wondering if someone new has emereged
to take away Cobia's terrible scourge.

I seem to recall before dawn Saturday
a terrible racket not too far away.
It sounded like a big red hitting a Marsh Works lure,
but the clatter was different and I was unsure.

I sat in my yak afraid of what I might see,
was it a big gator coming for me?
I sat there real still in the cool morning breeze,
what kind of monster might rise from these seas?

And there in a cut in this beautiful place
came a yaker dressed in mud and staring in space.
Was he one of ours or a crazed drunken local?
I wasn't sure, but man was he VOCAL.

He screamed about this and screamed about that,
I saw some green slime drip from his hat.
As he pedaled closer, should I stay or run?
I had to stay, I knew this would be fun!

The closer he got, I realized what happened.
He looked like a fillet; greasy, fried, and blackened.
He fell in the water from his kayak,
then a wet, muddy, madman whispered, "Not one wisecrack!!!"

As he spoke calmly I knew his I.D.
I laughed till I cried, just glad it's not me.
I said I would honor his only request,
to keep his name secret, so no one would jest.

Rumors will fly about his real name.
This could become a really big shame,
or maybe a rise to FALLING TIDE FAME.
In the end it's his to proclaim.

So now Cobia will cry and say "What the crap?",
I need this this guys name before I snap.
What to do now, don't want to start a fight,
so Happy Falling Tide 5 and to all a good night.

WANTED: New fishing partner that values silence. I understand we're not in Vegas (What happens here, stays here) but I never would have expected the blindside. It's nice to see you've got such talent with your writing skill, too bad it doesn't carry over into fishing.

As the experienced swimmer Cobia1 told me after the fact....where the nose goes, the ass follows... even in a PA. I'm headed to Wallyworld to purchase a set of "floatees" for my arms. See you on or in the water soon!

Right now I'm looking for a razorback that has goggles on. It may take awhile but will find it on the internet.....

As a follow up to Razoryak......

Yahooo!
From you know WHO
The wicked witch of the marsh has gotten you with her broom
And swept my name clean, but is now in your room
She bestows her wizardry power on those in the water on their back
Especially those that Know they should be in their big fat kayak
While help may have come quickly and fast
Trust me the abuse will last and last
While I am happy that to the bottom of the water you could come
It is now time for me swim out to dish out the fun
All of the above abuse is meant to be for newly christined wet one
Since it will always come from a happy and dry, Cobia1 !

The curse is gone!
Not really, just reasigned for the short time until the next one goes swimming!

I swear Steve not one place in that poem is your name mentioned. I have no idea who let the catfish out the bag.
Look on the bright side, (I started to say DRY SIDE, but that would have been hurtful) at least you fell out in relatively warm water and warm weather. Even though your lips were as blue as that stupid plastic bait your always bragging about and your teeth were chattering like tusks on a razorback in heat; it could have been worse.

And lets talk about that new fishing partner thing; I don't recall you looking for a new partner immediaetly after falling in. You were looking for anybody with some dry clothes; and who was there for you, who had your back, who was johnny on the spot and came to your sorry, muddy, stinky, wet rescue????? ME

I have to go now my pm's are filling up with applications from potential new partners, and I didn't even advertise.
I'm sure I can find someone that doesn't play around and go swimming during an important fishing turny and also someone who won't be so critical of me when I don't catch any fish.

Oh, and one more thing, where's my jacket???

Oh, and another one more thing, you sure seemed to enjoy my ICE COLD BEER Saturday evening.

Good Luck finding a new partner cause your a handful to watch after. Ever think that maybe the reason I didn't catch anything was because I was to busy
looking after you?????

Damn - Someone gets themselves a Hobie and now wants to talk smack. Hobie vs Hobie at the next Outcast for who can catch fish - you got no more excuses.

But...you are right. You were there for me in my minute of need...that dry jacket was nice and the beer was cold. I won't forget your kind jesture; I'll return the favor and teach you how to fish.

(sing On Top of Old Smoky)
On top of my PA
All covered with glee
Cause I'm going fishing
I've already peed
I'm heading out early
I've strung up my line
To catch me a big one
Hear everyone whine
I've started to peddle
A smile on my face
Cause y'all should know better
That I'm gonna place
I throw out my line and
I feel a nice tug
I pull a good fish in
And think is this luck
I reach round behind me
To put the fish in
The next thing I know is
I've fallen in
It wasn't just water
It wasn't just sand
Was mucky old mud that
I sat up in
I felt like a nutria
With big orange teeth
A fat ugly rodent
Whose name was Steve
I cried like a nutria
Please help me please please
My nut-uts are covered
with oil from BP
I held to my rod
I had a good grip
The fish was still on
And I hoped not to slip
All came to my rescue
But they started to laugh
Them kayaks was bucking
They made such a splash
Next thing a tsuenami
It came towards me
And washed me ashore
I woke, Mais a di

(change the tune to House of the Rising Sun)

There is, a field, in Arkansas
Where cotton always grows
And Razorbacks are livin there
Just like, a hundred, years ago

They'd been told 'bout, the high, water
And where they shouldn't go
Way on south, below New Orleans
Beware, of the the cursed, undertow

There is a kayak from Arkansas
That should have never come
Down bayous down to fish with men
That would tease him deaf and dumb

(Change the tune to Happy Birthday)

You once was a Jew
But now you Christian
By taking a dump in
Our water, Amen!!

Steve, ain't it great to feel the "luv" from your friends? Just don't let it get to you or you will drown, no pun intended, and they will throw bricks to your rescue.
Trust me, I know!!!!

man oh man it never ends, I love it. I know this little book store down off Magazine and Nashville. I just know all the beautiful people down there would love to have us come by one Thursday evening and do a few readings of our latest work.
