I was asked by my neighbor if wade fishing in the Lake was worth a try. He will be staying at the state park but does not have a kayak.
Please submit any ideas.
Thanks.

While fishing Lacombe earlier this year I came across a wade fisherman who said he usually catches trout.

I am sure you can wadefish there they do it all the time in Lacombe. I would go out from the beach to the wooden pilings.

I used to do real well by the Williams blvd pumping station wading out there. Its sand bottom with clams. I havent waded there in years but caught trout there last year off land with the fly rod

I used to wade out quite a bit, off of Hayne blvd in New Orleans, the fishing used to be great before they pulled up all of the pilings from the old camps, Caught some limits of Reds and a 37 inch long yellow cat out there. The last time I went by myself a 4 1/2 ft shark swam about a foot in front of me. after I crapped my shorts I decided it was time to buy a yak. I used to go out to the back of the spillway into the lake also, but don't remember catching much more than hardheads.

Used to wade fish all the time when I was a kid on the southshore near the Metairie pumping station. Caught bull croakers, trout and reds. I'd advise not fishing dead shrimp on the bottom. You'll catch alot of weird trash fish including big stingrays, oyster fish, green eels, and of course hardheads. Wear tennis shoes at a minimun.

What about near that marina? I know just before you get to it, if you're coming from the East, There are some rock jetties and a bunch of pilings. Everytime I pass I wish I had my yak so I could give it a shot!

I've never tried by the marina, but there use to be some good fishing in the east. I haven't been in about 3 or 4 years, it may be time to check it out again. I'll post a report if I head out that way.
