Wondering if anyone else was planning to go over to Destin for some offsore fishing this weekend. The weather forecast for this weekend looks to be great and snapper season just reopened again. The city of destin is also giving away $200 debit cards for people who booka 2 night stay at a hotel in Destin or Fort Walton Beach. If anyone would like to go, send me a message and we can meet up.

Already have plans for the weekend. Sounds like a win/win situation with the debit card. Thanks for the heads up, maybe next time.

Paddle in 50' of water east of the pass if you want to see if the sails are still out.

There were a few sails spotted at the Urchin and Starfish last week.

Had a great time in Destin. Did not see a sailfish but I did see a pod of tarpons rolling pass us. We just got out there and didn't have bait set up to throw anything at them. We caught 3 kings, 3 groupers, a lot of sharks, one tripper, and a lot of snappers. I even caught a 250 - 300 lb sea turtle at the reef. He wouldn't budge for 30 mins. I didn't know what if i had snagged onto the reef for the first 15 mins of the fight. It was the longest fishing battle i had ever experience. When I did managed to get him up and near the yak he swam straight down and exploded my rod into 3 pieces. One of the grouper was over 25 inches. We also caught a 27 in red snapper. Very fun and exciting trip. Will be back at it again this weekend. Anyone is welcome to join us.

Awesome trip! You look real close to the beach. Were you fishing a wreck? Live bait?

musicdoc - I was fishing over the artificial reefs. We were using live bait we caught and dead ones. They will hit almost anything if you get it down there.

Nice shots Adam. Congrats on a great trip.
I'll be there this weekend for the Orange Beach IFA, but no time for offshore fishing.
The IFA finals are on Friday/Saturday 11-12/13 in Orange Beach. Hopefully I can convince a couple of the guys to hang around for an offshore trip on that Sunday. Snapper will be closed by then, but hopefully the kings will still be around.

The snapper season is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so you should still be good. If you decide to go snapper fishing Sunday give me a call and we can meet up. There're lots of bait right now and the fishing is great.
