View Full Version : New to area
Hello fellow kayak anglers,
I recently moved to New Orleans from the Georgia coast after getting out of the Navy. I am trying to find some good places to launch. Any suggestions for productive sites within an hour or so from New Orleans? Any help would be appreciated.

If you join the club, there is a member's Google map page with numerous launch sites. There are plenty places below Belle Chasse on Highway 23 as well as Highway 1 heading to Grand Isle.
Ahhh...Did not realize how to join the club. figured it out. thanks for the info

Glad to help. As is everyone else on here. Any time you feel like going out post up in the hook up forum and someone would likely be willing to go out and show you an area. We all are itching for an excuse to go fishing.

Advice and reports from the LA-1 corridor will be getting scarce pretty soon.

yeah, this is true... I forgot about PPVII
Ryan, you should come out and fish Paddle Palooza with us. It'll be a great chance to meet alot of local kayak fishermen as well as a few out of towners.

Even closer to NOLA is 'da Pen, north of Chalmette on Highway 47. It is 20-30 minutes from downtown. The Seabrook bridge area should be heating up soon, and the US Highway 11 bridge across Lake P. to the east is 30 minutes away from NOLA. You can be fishing Reggio, Delacroix, Hopedale, or Shell Beach in about an hour. Like others in the club in the NOLA area, I like to go down Highway 23 below Belle Chase every now and then (Myrtle Grove, Magnolia, Joshua's, Buras, and even on down to Venice if you have time). There are lots of maps posted in the USER's section.
