Has anyone tried to use the front hatch of the Hobie PA to keep fish in,wondering how long the ice would hold even if i insulate the top hatch.

I saw Larry's and am in the process of insulating mine. Picked up the material at Home Depot this afternoon for $10 a roll. Larry did mention that he thought he might like to double layer the lid since it was getting direct sun and that is what I am going to do to start with. He did repor that it did a pretty good job of holding the ice and fish so that was enough for me!
I finished the ram rod holders Sunday and have started on the anchor trolley and the fishfinder / gps mount. I got the ram ball and mount to fit the mast socket by the lid and will start the wiring and transducer mount in the next few days.
Somehow in the next few days I also hope to deliver the Big Game to the new owner.

What kind of insulation did you use?

Haven't done it yet, but I purchased the same thing that Larry used...kind of a silver bubble wrap in a roll 10 feet long and 24 or 30 inches wide. Sort of looks like the stuff people use to put on inside of windshield to block heat when parked. He had cut to fit and attached with black duct tape to lid and storage compartment on the outside so when you pull compartment out you see the bubble wrap but not when it is sitting inside yak and you just open the lid. You see it on the inside of the flip up lid.

I have plans to insulate mine as well, but I use it to hold my fish even without it being insulated. I usually throw about two bags of ice in it and by the time I get off the water - usually about 5 to 6 hours - I will still have some ice cubes floating around in there.

I would be very interested in checking out what you guys have done to insulate the hatch. I definitely want to follow suit.
