I like it. If I am in water I can't stake out in I have a grapple type anchor that I hate messing with. I did notice the company is based in Australia and did not see a price at first look.

Their website says on the contact us link "We do not sell direct to the public outside of Australia."

Check this out. A 2.2 lb anchor that could be dipped or painted in liquid latex would make it scratch your hull less and be more stealthy because it won't bang so loud. It'll do nearly the same thing as the other anchor you showed. Besides, most of those made out of metal are very heavy and very pricey.

I like the design of these and the small weight per hold ratio, but I think I'm going with sand/aggregate filled PWC anchor bags hung off the bow and stern of my canoe, if I add a permanent anchor set up. The brush anchor or a Cajun anchor work most places.

Maybe someone could contact them and let them know that we are a kayaking club and may be interested in a group buy. Or maybe one of our sponsors could contact them about possibly stocking them.

2.2 lbs should be about the same weight since that one is 1 kilo.

Currently out of stock, but it's right in my price range.

Check the West Marine on Florida @ Airline. I was in there about a month ago and they had 3-5 of the 1k Lewmar anchors. Little do they know if they'd simply change the name to "1K Kayak Anchor" they could charge triple the current price! (Anything that says "kayak" on it seems to cost more.)

That is a million dollar idea, my friend. Hmmm. I'm sure it doesn't cost much to repackage an anchor with nice graphics on the box.

I have that anchor from West Marine. I have been pretty happy with it. There have been a few times in a really strong tide that it did not hold as well as I would have liked, but for the weight and price I like it. I also use the zip tie aspect in the event it gets hung up. This actually happened once and I was able to get it free.

Hobie1,
The Lewmar isn't perfect. No anchor seems to be for all situations. It works well in deeper waters and if you let out enough line it will hold well on hard bottoms. I add about 1 pound of chain to it. I'm mostly a shallow water enthusiast so I don't have a lot of experience with it but for the price... what the heck. Anchor and chain will run you about $10-$12. Use the zip-tie method as mentioned by MDR.

Looking at the specs on this anchor it lists these cons "Must use rollers or chocks to stow. Less holding power in mud or soft sand. Not good in weeds. Catches boulders, destroying performance."

With most of the fishing being done in the mud I am not sure this is such a good idea

It looks like it would hold marsh mud pretty well, esp. with the chain YAL mentioned adding.

I switched to thqat plough type anchor last year, and have had no trouble with it. I got a 1kg size from pack & paddle. The Aussie anchor is just a modified plough, at 3-4x the price, but you can get it in PINK!

How hard would it be to make a mold and buy some bulk plastic? Is it a big deal to melt nylon and mold it? Not my area of expertise. Can it be a difficult process? seems to me you can make an anchor out of a shaped rebar and dip it in a plastic. Probably weigh a pound or about.

Do they have ANY OTHER color?

Quoted from the Fraser Coast Chronicle.

"Mr Cooper said the nylon anchor was only available in pink and 60 cents from each unit sold would be donated to cancer research."
