Ya know those delta shaped kits with 2 lines coming off it? Well I was thinking, If you had a short broom stick modified to fit in a Scotty mount along the centerline of the boat. Using 3 chords from the top for support, one to the bow and one to each side just aft of the scotty mount might be good enough for a mast. Attach the delta kite to the broomstick mast and some chord for control, it would probably work great as a sail, not too big to cause overturn in light wind but enough to manuver around in almost any direction, using the paddle as a keel off the side. Has anyone ever tried this, its just something I was thinking about trying out, Harbor freight has those big delta kites. I think I will try it and see what happens..

Check out this site. I got a kite that I've been meaning to try in the same way. Just need to hit the right conditions.

I just bought a delta kite ($4.99) at Harbor freight, When I get in my shop I will look and see how doable this is.

So how doable was it? I was toying with the idea of a kite too, but think a sail will suit my needs better.

That set up should bring some strange looks up in the Manchac area, if it is very colorful listen for the distant banjo music!

My mind wandered off the page when the fire started, I havn't yet to try it out. My grandmas bra did well for holding my worms.
